Day 28: Germaine Street

Rhode didn't want to have to let go of Allen, not ever. It could be forever before she was able to be with him again! But the nurses were persistent in moving her off the big yellow thing, as was Allen for getting away from her. Even outside of the building, people were just determined to keep her from being with him! It wasn't fair!

Once off the bus and shivering just slightly from the crisp fall air, Rhode was handed a small booklet of what the nurse called "coupons". It took some explaining, but Rhode was eventually able to understand that the thin pieces of paper in the book were supposed to be used like money here. She wasn't at all accustomed to buying things for herself; that was supposed to be the Earl's job. When Rhode expressed this problem, the nurse only gave her a sad smile and patter her in the direction of the buildings.

"Why don't you go find something fun to do? There's a toy store just around the corner there. Don't worry about being alone though, we're all here to keep an eye on you. If anything happens, just come get one of us," the nurse explained, nodding to the staff members that were set to parole the town for any problems their more unruly patents could cause.

So, they were all going to be watched even though they could roam about freely? Rhode took a look back towards the yellow things but was unable to pick out Allen from the mess of patients. In a few moments, she probably wouldn't be able to find him at all or for the rest of the day. Should she just resign herself to that for now and use the small bit of freedom to her advantage? Being with Allen was important, and a lot of fun but...

She glanced down at the coupons again, smiled up at the nurse as best she could, and gave a quick, "Okay!" before running off as suggested.

A small bit of freedom was bound to make her feel better. Maybe she could use it to remind herself of how she was supposed to handle Allen Walker, an exorcist. This town did have a similar air to that of the Rewinding Town, after all.

The Bride looked at the nurse coldly as she exited the bus. She stared at the coupon book for a moment before taking the damn thing from the woman and stuffing it into the back pocket of her jeans. She didn't care what freebies they were giving the prisoners in this facade of normal.

"I though the Head Doctor was going to be here?" she asked the nurse, taking only a small step away from the bus to let others off.

"Oh, he's a very busy man, Miss Harmon," the nurse replied. "He'll be along later."

This put a damper in her plans. She'd just have to find him later. She opened her mouth to ask where he was planning on asking if she could talk to him when he arrived, but a surge from behind as one of the children got off the bus knocked Beatrix away from the nurse and into another person. The nurse immediately forgot about her and started chiding the unruly patient for pushing.

Beatrix looked over at whom she had bumped into and was met with the sight of her victim from last night. She appeared to have faired well after the Bride had assaulted her, but there was no sympathy in the Bride's eyes.

Nor was there recognition. Her training was too high to give even that much away. She inclined her head slightly to the shorter woman.

"Excuse me," she said in an uncaring tone as she moved past the woman and down the street. Facing forward, her hearing was still focused on that woman. She didn't expect trouble, not with so many of the staff around, but it was always best to be prepared when you've made an enemy out of someone.

Internally she shorted. The woman was probably scared out of her mind.

Being practically shoved off of the 'bus' by a nurse was a less than pleasant experience. And he didn't like the way she had glared at him at all. What had that been for?

He didn't move once he was off the bus. Despite being informed there was a great deal to do - and given some bits of parchment that would apparently allow him to partake of said fun - he didn't want to do anything until he had Shadow right there with him.

And had made sure Keman and Shana were alright.

Momo exited the bus and received her coupon book. As she walked down the street, she idly flipped though it. Some of the things inside she'd never heard of before. What was a Tasty Burger anyways?

Not particularly wanting to be around anyone she knew, the shinigami tucked away her coupons and crossed her arms as she walked down the road. She needed to think and so she's walk and think.

Shana slipped away from her seat-mates in relief. It wasn't that they hadn't been nice, it was just that she'd felt very... out of place. Then again, she'd felt out of place ever since she'd arrived in this strange world. This should be no different.

Still feeling awkward and uncomfortable in the skirt and sweater her nurse had given her, she smoothed her fingers down over the soft fabric, unconsciously straightening it, wishing it were longer - wishing it were breeches or at least something similar - even as she cast a glance around at the disembarking patients for a familiar face.

Long red hair falling about her face in disarray, she was completely unconscious of the sight she made. Not that she'd comprehend that even if she did know.

[identity profile] per-ardua.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Raine's eyes got very wide when she recognized the woman's voice--her attacker. There was little chance the woman would do anything now; both the situation and her body language said she didn't intend to finish what she'd started last night. Still... her blood ran cold at getting confirmation that the woman really was another patient, not just a humanoid-shaped monster.

She'd been following Reinforce anyway; she found herself slipping behind her to hide... she had a feeling her face was even paler than usual. She didn't expect today to be fun, but this was the last thing she needed.

"Shana? Ancestors...."

Valyn couldn't help but be taken aback by Shana's appearance. He didn't think he'd ever seen her in female clothes before. It was...disorienting. And didn't help to soothe the unease that his conversation with Shadow on the 'bus' had brought about.

He couldn't help but tug on the hem of his own dark red tunic to straighten it, feeling uncomfortable already.

"Ah. Are you alright? I only ask because the ride down made Shadow a bit ill, and you aren't looking in fine health yourself. Not to say you look poorly, of course. You just.... How was your ride down?"
thesadist: (Daemon - Quiet)

[personal profile] thesadist 2007-10-31 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
To say Daemon was relieved to be off the over-sized carraige would be an understatement. He'd ridden all manner of creatures and contraptions in his 1700 years - the Blood nobility loved their short-lived and often strange fashions of transportation - but that one hadn't agreed overly much with the sparse breakfast they'd provided.

Taking the book of coupons from the staff member, he put a few feet of distance between himself and the large yellow carraige before pausing to look around, taking in his surroundings, and waiting for his father to rejoin him before they parted ways.

The town didn't look all the different from a Blood village, although there were definite things that Daemon didn't recognize and seemed out of place. And again, there was no familiar psychic sense of any other Blood nearby, other than Saetan's familiar Black.

It was... disconcerting.

[identity profile] hamenleai.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Shana glanced up at the sound of his voice, a quick smile flitting across her face. "There you are," she spoke, hurrying towards him, trying to coordinate hair and skirt and the chilly breeze that seemed to insist on playing with both. She needed more hands.

"I didn't see any of you on the... thing, and I didn't know how easy it would be finding any of you once we got here. And yes, the ride left quite a bit to be desired. I would have rather rode down on Keman."

She was babbling, but that was more to do with the picture he made in these people's foreign clothes than anything else. She reminded herself not to stare. He got annoyed when she forgot and started staring. And she wanted to try and get through at least one day without annoying him.

As difficult as she found that most days...

[identity profile] highlord-ofhell.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Even before the nurses handed him his coupons, Saetan stretched his back. He knew there'd be quite a bit of walking and he didn't want anything else throwing his gait off to put strain on his leg.

"There truly aren't any other Blood here, are there?" he asked Daemon. "I thought we might be under some kind of shielding at the Institute." Of course, he could sense it as easily, but he wanted it out in the open to discuss.

The crowd from the buses wasn't dispersing quickly, and it was easier to stay near Daemon and talk of familiar things while he chose where he wanted to go and who he wanted to see.

[identity profile] notmyfather.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I'll take one of those things over Keman, myself." Valyn chuckled. They could do this. They could have a conversation like normal people. He was bound and determined to do it.

"At least the fresh air should agree with you." He smiled. "Ah, I was on that one, with Shadow. I didn't spot Keman anywhere, he must have been on the other." He did notice how she was looking at him, how could he not? But that didn't mean he needed to be a donkey about it.

He would talk to her, just as he'd promised.

"At least we aren't running about in those thin uniforms. I've never liked the cold very much. And I can't complain about the clothing. Skirts suit you, oddly enough."

[identity profile] valyns-shadow.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Shadow climbed off the metal carriage rubbing his side. The nurse had poked him until he had gotten up. Didn't they see he wasn't feeling well? Maybe if they had moved a bit slower he wouldn't have gotten sick on the floor after they had practically kicked Valyn off first.

He spotted Val talking to a pretty red head in a skirt. It was a strange sight to see Valyn talking to a girl with an almost easy smile on his face. That must mean the woman had to have been...

Shadow whistled as he approached, looking at Shana approvingly. "Look at you in a skirt," he smiled, hoping he wasn't as pale as he felt. "I'd say these strange clothes work well for you. Too bad we can't all say that." He tugged his jacket over his thin t-shirt, shivering. It was a bit chilly and he almost wished he had a heavier shirt then the thin white one he was wearing.

Rein's curious post-disembarkation inspection of the town was suddenly interrupted when someone bumped into Raine. She'd turned, and was about to ask if the half-elf was alright (and check herself, since she was in a hypervigilant state of mind right now), when Raine suddenly paled and moved...

Putting Rein between herself and the other woman. It was clearly a defensive action, and one she couldn't help but see as an unspoken request for her intercession against whatever threat the other posed.

She whirled on the other woman, reaching the all-to-obvious conclusion. Her eyes narrowed. "It was you."

For words of accusation, they were spoken unusually slowly, softly... even sadly, with a hoarse quality. As she'd once spoken...

Ururu moved off her bus, and tried her best to get out of the way of others. She wanted to watch the people leave, to try and see Kisuke-san at last, to finally tell him everything she had learned.

But Kisuke-san didn't come out of a bus. Or he did before Ururu was watching. Or she hadn't seen him, even though she was watching very carefully.

But in the end, there was no Kisuke-san. Just a very worried little girl.

Ururu looked down, her mind desperately seeking a solution that didn't involve Kisuke-san being hurt or worse. But he didn't have Benihime or his fan or his hat, and who knew what had happened during the night when Ururu hadn't found him?

She knew well how clever Kisuke-san was. It was just easy to forget when she got worried.

"K-Kisuke-san..." Ururu sniffled, large tears welling in her eyes. "Where'd you go?"

Renji got off the bus quickly; as distracted as he felt, he didn't really pay attention to the coupons the nurses were handing out, or anything they might have said. His thoughts felt like they were going in a loop, around and around. Because he could guess at least some of what Byakuya would say to Rukia, and... he agreed with it.

I'm not worthy of her, I've failed her too many times, I should let her go, but I can't, she still loves me in spite of everything, and I'm too weak, and that makes me all the more unworthy...

It was maddening. It made his head hurt, and he didn't know how to deal with it. He did his best to shove it all away, to find some plateau of calm, and maybe it was working.

He spotted Daemon in the crowd of patients, turned away from him, and walked up, doing his best not to scowl any worse than normal. "Hey, Daemon," he said. He'd promised to talk to the man, but now he wasn't sure if he should, or if it would make a difference, or anything else.

Then he took a quick step back, shoving his hands into the too-tight pockets of the 'jeans.' "Whoa! Sorry. Looked like someone I knew."

[yes, he's going up to Saetan and not noticing Daemon for a moment because he's all emo and distracted. XD]

Keman had been very eager indeed to get off that bus. Not only was Lust starting to make him very depressed, she had also started...touching him again. And making him really, really uncomfortable.

The rush of cold air outside the 'bus' helped clear his head. He wandered aimlessly for a bit, glad of the sweatshirt the nurses had insisted he wear. It was rather chilly out. He stuck his hands in the large...pouch on its front and found that it, too, was lined with the same fuzzy cotton material as the rest of the hoodie. Convenient, that.

Hearing his name, he turned around to find Valyn and...

Fire and Rain, that was Shana. In a skirt.

Valyn and Shadow (who had just joined them) had obviously noticed the same thing, because they actually seemed to be noticing her gender, for once. Noticing it more, anyway.

Keman grinned. That wouldn't do at all.

Running up to them, he picked up his sister and twirled her around.

"Is this my little sister?" he laughed. "It can't be Shana, looking so lady-like. Shana would never agree to wear something so...respectable." Keman put his foster-sister down and twisted his face into an exaggerated frown. "Who are you and what have you done with Lashana?"

Had the words been issued in any tone other than the one used, Beatrix would have ignored them and continued on. Except, these words reminded her of...

The Bride paused and half-turned to look back, seeing the other woman that had been with her victim the previous night the moment before they separated. This was the one she would have gone after for information had she chosen the path the one she had assaulted had chosen. Interestingly enough, these two women had enough similarities that they could have been related. Mostly it was the hair; silvered hair on someone that young was a genetic trait, though this taller woman's hair was much more silver than the other one's paler head of hair.

Her expression stayed calm, still not allowing recognition of the previous night to enter her eyes.

"Well, yes," the Bride replied. "I was the one that bumped into her when the kids ran out of the bus." She tilted her head slightly. "I did excuse myself. Is there something else I can help you with?"

[identity profile] highlord-ofhell.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Saetan suppressed his urge to laugh. This wasn't the first time, though it hadn't happened since arriving here. He did smile, his amusement crinkling the skin around his eyes a little.

"You must be looking for my son," he said. He nodded to the figure just a few feet on his other side. "He's over there."

Yuuhi's conversation with Haku had done plenty to unsettle him. Did the dead really come back to life here? And if that were so... if he could just find out how it was done, then maybe... maybe he had a real chance of bringing Fai back.

Unfortunately, before he could ask Haku many more questions, he was ushered off of the bus and given a handful of tickets. He had only taken a few steps when he noticed the little girl in pink and white that he'd seen before during Arts and Crafts. She was creative, he knew that much, but now she was distressed.

He wasn't usually one to meddle in the affairs of others... alright, so perhaps he was, but either way he couldn't just ignore a crying child in the middle of the street. He approached and got down into a crouch so he could speak at her level. Children tended to appreciate that, he'd noticed. He folded his hands in front of himself and tried to meet her eyes.

"Hey now, we just got off the bus, today is going to be a fun day, right?" He made a couple of soft cooing noises meant to calm her. "Something wrong? Did you forget your mittens on the bus?" He kept his voice light and tried to smile as much as he could. There was plenty to be frightened of in a place like Landel's, but maybe he could help her forget that for at least a little while.

[identity profile] byakushi.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Byakuya hurried off the bus, as much to avoid Rukia's question as anything. He hadn't actually meant what he'd said; moron or not, Renji would never embarrass either himself or the Gotei 13. He was simply digging as hard as he could, looking for reasons why they shouldn't be together.

His inability to find solid ones was enraging.

Rather than face either his sister or his lieutenant, he stalked off, not particularly caring where he ended up.

Shana had started blushing at Valyn and Shadow's comments about her outfit, glancing down and wondering what the big deal was. It was a skirt. Okay, so she never would have worn one back home, but did it really make that big of a difference? Maybe she'd have to find a way to wear one more often, if this was the reaction she got...

Then she gave a squeak of surprise as she was lifted off her feet and twirled in a tight circle. Laughing, she tried to wriggle free, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red as she hoped her skirt hadn't flown up as far as it had felt it did.

"Keman, put me down!" she protested in embarrassment. "Blame the nurses. This respectable thing is overrated anyway. As if having bared legs is appropriate dress for a chilly day!"

She hoped someone would change the topic of conversation before her face got any redder. She wasn't used to their attention being focused fully on her.
thesadist: (Daemon - Faint Amusement)

[personal profile] thesadist 2007-10-31 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hearing his name, Daemon turned around, his golden eyes glittering in amusement at the confusion. He'd had that same momentary bewilderment the first time he'd gazed into his father's face, and Lucivar and Surreal had once commented on the same. It wasn't just in power that he was called his father's mirror.

"Were you looking for me, Renji?" Daemon spoke up, approaching the pair so they could speak in more private tones. "This is my father, Saetan SaDiablo. He arrived yesterday. Father, this is Renji, who I spoke to you about."

[identity profile] notmyfather.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Valyn did the polite thing and looked away when Shana's skirt rose up, baring far more of her legs than he was comfortable seeing.

"It is something of a shock," he pointed out. "You wear it well, Shana. And come now, Shadow. You hardly need clothes to look fetching." He tucked his thumbs into his pockets, standing with an unconscious grace that harkened back to his elven training.

"I suppose we should start exploring early, to get as much done as possible," he pointed out.

[identity profile] per-ardua.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
This might not be the best timing for a confrontation, but Raine's temper was starting to flare. "Don't pretend you don't remember. You all but attempted to kill me last night, unprovoked, and made sure I couldn't fight back."

She had no intention of starting a fight--if anything did happen, Reinforce would likely be able to overpower the woman, but she knew very well they were being watched. (And she wouldn't admit it, but she didn't want to miss the chance to look around a another place in this world.) However, that didn't lessen her anger.

[identity profile] bewarethecute.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ururu looked up at the man who approached her. His hair was the right color, but that was the only thing. He was definitely not Kisuke-san.

"Mittens?" Ururu held up her hands, which were a little cold in the fall air. But she wasn't crying over mittens. That's the sort of thing Jinta-kun would pull her pigtails over.

So she shook her head, sniffling a little. "I'm looking for someone. His name is Kisuke-san. You haven't seen him, have you?"
