Day 28: Bus 2

Momo tugged on the collar of the light blue sweater she was wearing as she followed her nurse to wherever these buses were, winding her hair up into its customary bun as she went. It was an odd feeling, knowing she was about to go outside of the institute's borders. Maybe the Head Doctor was about to make an error and the shinigami, as well as everyone else, would no longer be limited and they could finish what they started several nights back.

That was probably too much to hope for. She was feeling better this morning, even with the blood moon, and was mildly looking forward to the bus ride. Captain Jack said he was going to be here this morning and even if it wasn't customary breakfast in the cafeteria, she's be satisfied with him sitting next to her on the bus.

The nurse handed her a muffin, some napkins, and a small box with a straw. She stared at this box for a moment before shaking it. From the sound it contained liquid. How odd... Momo wasn't sure why they would but liquid inside a small paper box - it didn't make any sense to her and she wasn't sure how one was supposed to get it out of the box.

Clambering onto an empty bus, Momo chose to sit in the very back near the emergency exit. Maybe she could force her way out of it as they were moving and escape the limiter enough to come back and level the institute, freeing everyone. Or maybe she just wanted to be able to see everyone that was on the same bus as her. Wishful thinking versus reality.

Once again, Quatre was disappointed by the activities of the night before. Nothing had gotten accomplished. He woke up in his room and stayed there, waiting for the nurse to come.

The outfit they had him in wasn't too terrible. He was thankful for that at least. Simple blue jeans and a red t-shirt. They were more worn though, previously owned. Not that he minded. It was nice to be out of the happy faced gray.

He got onto the bus and looked around for signs of his comrades, seeing none (though he did smile at his roommate) he moved to an empty seat to sit and look out the window.

[hope you don't mind a sleepy bookworm!]

Just as Touma was about to ask if they had some sort of warning bell to return to their rooms, the sudden shift back to his room answered that question. Or, more accurately, the prodding, pleading, and physical shaking answered that question. He had gone to bed in the wee hours of the morning, and now this nurse insisted he get up at the crack of dawn.

He got dressed slower than he usually would to annoy the woman. The polo, sweater, and jeans didn't bother him too much, considering they were pretty high fashion for 1987.

Shoving a paper sack in his hand, she herded him onto one of the buses and into a seat next to a blond kid about his age. "Now try not to fall asleep on Mr. Bedeau, Mr. Fujimori," she admonished, still thinking he would drop off any minute.

Quatre smiled at the nurse that dropped off Touma and then looked at his new seating companion. "If you are tired I can move," he said very softly. "It might be better for you lie down." He frowned with a worried expression. He wasn't sure if it was possible for one patient to take up an entire seat, but at least they could try.

"No, it's fine." Touma shrugged off the concern, rubbing his eyes to get the sleep out. "I'm kinda used to waking up quickly, or else I wouldn't make it to school on time."

Sitting back in the seat, he got a better look at his seatmate. Blond, on the short side - though it was hard to tell sitting down - and a worried expression that seemed very familiar to his features. It definitely sounded familiar, he thought ruefully.

"Anyway, I'm Touma," he said, nodding his head.

"I'm Quatre," the blond offered smiling at the introduction. He didn't bother with his full name, it would have been meaningless here anyway. "It's nice to meet you, though I wish it were under better circumstances."

He understood the idea of waking up early, but it had been a long time since Quatre had gone to conventional school, so he couldn't relate to that.

"Was your night rough?" he asked, concerned once more.

The only thing that could make this whole situation better was being back home...without Arago, of course. If he didn't specify, the Powers That Be might find a way to bring the demon over here too.

"It wasn't too bad. I walked around, and met a twelve-year-old kid." That is what got to him about this place. Kids didn't deserve to be thrown in here with older teens or adults. "Waking up was a bit rough, though. I wasn't expecting the sudden shift."

[identity profile] mylackofeffort.livejournal.com 2007-10-29 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Quatre nodded. "At least we know we'll end up in bed again as long as we survive the night," Quatre pointed out he frowned slightly. His roommate was also a young boy. "What was the kid's name?" he asked curiously.

"Her name was Dairine." Touma knew it was sexist of him, but girls really didn't belong where the danger was. Little kids either. Of course, that could come from watching Nasuti and Jun getting into trouble while he and the other Troopers were fighting.

Looking out the window on Quatre's other side, he watched the blurry scenery pass them by. "Do you have any idea where we're going?"

[identity profile] mylackofeffort.livejournal.com 2007-10-29 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"To town, I think," Quatre said after a moment. "I don't know what's going to be there. It may just be a harmless town." Still, Quatre wasn't ready to relax completely.

[identity profile] onestarknight.livejournal.com 2007-10-29 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Touma didn't want to get comfortable with this whole situation either, and he probably knew a whole lot less about it than Quatre did. "Something tells me nothing about this Landel's is harmless, even their town."

[identity profile] mylackofeffort.livejournal.com 2007-10-29 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Quatre considered that and then nodded. "I'm not willing to bet on the nurses and doctors being completely in on everything that goes on here, though, nor am I prepared to pass judgment on the civilians until I see them for myself." He wasn't trying to criticize, but simply making a statement.

[identity profile] onestarknight.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
It was smart not to assume anything about this place, or so Touma thought. "Very wise. I guess I just hate feeling out of control of my life." Understatement for him, considering the responsibility he had with the armors, but he hoped Quatre would just take it at face value.

"So," he started, trying to change the subject, "what do you hope this town will have? Besides a way to escape, obviously."

Quatre nodded. He understood that. Getting control for his family and the people of the colonies was one of the reasons he had agreed to pilot a Gundam.

"It might have some information," he said after a moment. "But then if we are being allowed to go there it's probably information the Head Doctor is comfortable with us knowing."
