Nightshift 27: 2nd Floor Hallway near Medical Reference Library and Railed Area

Once they were safely at the top of the stairs, Ritsuka flicked on his flashlight and swept the area. It was probably unwise to announce their position, but he needed to know where he was. For all the times Ritsuka had been up here, he had never really gotten very far and his memory was fuzzy. Somewhere to his right was the pharmacy, near the railing, where he needed to stop for supplies for Tamaki.

Whether he should stop there first or after their explorations, however, was the problem. Turning to the right, he started forward and tried not to show any fear. He wanted to get things done tonight, even if it meant facing the worst that Landel's had to offer. He just hoped he wouldn't have to do that just yet.

Sora wasn't surprised that people had beat them to the rooms. They were probably people that were there for someone in particular, and he could certainly understand where they were coming from. He had been there just a few nights ago, after all.

He wasn't going to let the topic of the ghost just drop, however. Rukia seemed interested as well, and that gave Sora more confidence in continuing his line of questioning.

"But why was he crying? What did it do to him?" Maybe he had been fighting it with a friend of his, and something had gone wrong? Sora hated to assume something like that, but he couldn't assume anything less in this place. He just hoped Renji would answer - Sora hadn't heard of a monster like that, and he wanted to know as much as he could about it in case he ever came across it. They were supposed to all share information like that, right?

Renji paused, to answer the questions. In his opinion, they really could have been asked at a better time, so he kept his explanations short. "I don't know about them disappearing in the day. Probably 'cause it's something the nurses would really notice," he said. "It makes you remember the worst things that've ever happened to you." He didn't know much more than that about Allen's pain, and he frankly didn't want to. Such things, in his opinion, were supposed to stay personal. "I don't blame him for not wantin' to talk about it."

And they were at the hallway, the broken door. There was already confusion inside. Renji didn't hesitate; he went it.
