Nightshift 27: Hallway Outside M81-M120 Block

[From here]

Scar stumbled into yet another empty hallway. The nurse had taken him into the right direction this morning, which had led to the sun room and all the other connecting rooms. He wondered what happened to be located in the opposite direction.

Continuing, the king eventually noticed the door at the end of the hall. Fiddling around with the handle, he managed to push it open and felt the cold breeze from outside on his skin.

No one was in the hallway yet. Nothing either. A slam at the end of the hallway caused Heiji to nearly jump out of his skin. Oh... he hadn't noticed the door at the end of the hallway before.

"Get a grip," he muttered, and continued down the hallway.

Once again, the Myopic Amazon found himself in an empty hallway. This was really starting to confuse him. Where were all the other patients? He could hear their voices, but so far he had yet to encounter them.

Curious.

Still drawn to the voices, Mousse headed through another door.

Danny wandered further away from his room, trying to get somewhere where he would see at least something. Everywhere he went there were bustling people moving about, but he didn't know why. Okay, well, he did, but still.

He stopped and stood around, trying to figure out where he was, and where he could keep going.

More doors, more places to go. At least Rockfort had some sort of organization - this place seemed like an eternal labyrinth. It looked like he would just have to guess as to where to go next.

"My mother told me to pick the very best one and this is who she..." Steve hesitated. "-picks!"

And to the door he went.

This stretch of hallway was a lot quieter than the last, with no one standing around talking.

He paused for a moment, focusing on his enhanced sense of hearing to listen for anything in the hallway that he hadn't seen. His sight wasn't nearly as good as Recluse's in the dark.

Now a choice in direction. There was an obvious doorway open to his right, or a long dark hallway to his left. As he recalled, the hallway to the left would lead him outside, to the playing field where he'd seen men fighting dog monsters of some sort. Dog monsters were entertaining enough, but he had work to do. Right it was.

Phibrizzo darted into this hallway from the other and moved quickly, trying to put some distance between himself and Zelgadis should the other finish his conversation and move on. Wasting no time, the Mazoku lord ducked into another door.

The door opened out into a wider hallway, just as dark as the last. Another door was to his right, this time wide open.

Maybe these halls would feel more at home if he could feel the smoothed down surface of ancient stones beneath his feet. But this place was too foreign and too sterile to invite any familiar thoughts. He stepped through the door to the next corridor, remembering each step it took to get him here.

Naoto turned toward the door Naoya indicated on the map, it would hopefully lead outside, where he could double back around and come in again. The door was already open...someone was outside already, then.

It was much easier on Peter for someone else to sing his praises, and while that wasn't exactly what Logan had been doing, he was giving him quite a bit of credit - more than he would have been comfortable admitting to in this situation.

This all would have been so different if he had his costume, and he wondered what that said about him.

So how many people were they meeting? Peter wasn't even sure, but it wasn't like it was his call, anyway. He would just go along for now, and he could always bail if he decided he didn't like where things were going. He knew he should be more trusting of Logan, but it wasn't easy when he still essentially barely knew the man.

When Statesman contested Logan's age, though, Peter did have a hold back a snicker. He knew how old the man was, and he doubted the other "Hero" could compare.

Unlike his own hallway, the one outside the block was almost empty, save for one or two people mulling about down the passage. It made the hallway as a whole darker and less fun to navigate, but hey... At least he wasn't running into a murder or tripping over a sex scene. Just what kind of psychopaths were brought here anyway? It kinda made him worried about his friends' safety. Not Heero (he could certainly handle himself...), but Relena's and maybe Quatre's.

With that on his mind, he quickened his pace down the hall...

Getting out of the block was simple enough, and the exterior hallway was almost entirely emptied out already. Raiden as accustomed to moving around at night compared to everyone else, and he figured that was why he seemed to be getting a slow start.

It was better to take things slow in a situation like this, wasn't it? He wasn't working under any ridiculous time limit - as far as he knew, there weren't any bombs counting down. It was certainly a nice change compared to the constant stress he had been under at Big Shell.

He looked over his map, considering which way to go. He was going to have to go around, and since he hadn't been outside yet, he figured cut through the recreational field was the best option. It might be faster, anyway, since it probably wouldn't be as crowded as the hallways.

Raiden tucked the map away and then turned left, heading for the door at the end of the hall.

This hallway was a little quieter, and Kain stopped to look both ways. If he went through the closest doorway he'd be near the women's rooms, and as much as he wanted to find his cousin he didn't want to run into Diva again.

He had to go the other way and hope there was a way to where he wanted to go.

Since there was nothing going on in the hallway that demanded their attention, Statesman lead his group on.

The kid that Logan had brought along seemed very quiet and withdrawn, but perhaps he was just shy.

Mason was still in considerable pain, which was weird, because he was supposed to not have to suffer all those achy little living annoyances, at least not to the same extent that the living did. At least his bruises should be healing by now, but every time he poked his cheek, it was as swollen and tender as ever. Feeling grouchy, Mason turned right and continued on.

There had been much he’d seen within his lifespan, but the ominous feeling that night sky had given off was something that greatly disturbed the Rune. He knew, without a doubt, that there was something most definitely wrong with this institution – no – with this entire world if something as simple and innocent as a night sky could give off such an menacing atmosphere.

Trapped within his thoughts as he moved back indoors, he ignored the way that the lion fumbled with their alien body, and instead walked up to stand beside Scar. Glancing up at the much taller figure, his amber eyes were sharp and his brows furrowed.

“If you’re going to be any use within these walls, you’ll need to gain control of your balance and do so quickly.” He bluntly stated, “It’s not difficult to learn to walk like a human while in their form.”

“I could pick on your posture if you want boy,” The sword snapped out harshly as his arms folded stubbornly across his chest. Amber eyes narrowed in annoyance, the Night Rune incarnation followed by grumbling, “But if you’d prefer to go without my aid then I shall take my leave. I’ve more important things to do than babysitting an ungrateful feline.”
