I mean, nearly every time our two groups met we ended up trying to kill each other or even mostly succeeding. If anything, I'd think that they wouldn't want to ally with us either. So if he had to work shit out on his own, it's not surprising he'd go to someone he knows, even if that someone's usually an enemy.
