Lust
29 April 2013 @ 03:40 am
If nothing else, Lust supposed it was nice to be out of the institute walls. She had little interest in shopping, though she looked in windows and wondered about the town and where the things they sold came from.

And at least perhaps some use would come out of this visit. Perhaps. She would wait until night to make any decisions.

Now the day was winding down and she found she had no desire to be indoors. She spent too much time inside walls these days. At least with no visible boundaries she didn't feel quite so caged and restless.

The park was empty, and she wasn't surprised. But the chill didn't bother her much, likely wouldn't even without the coat and long skirt she was currently wearing. The emptiness of the place was welcome, for the moment. It was almost impossible to get any time purely to herself in the institute.

There was a great deal to think on, but she'd been thinking on things since she'd awoken. For the moment she pushed it all away and simply walked slowly through the quiet park, enjoying the silence and solitude.

For however long it lasted.

"RYUUZAKI" (L - Death Note)
29 April 2013 @ 04:17 am
On these field trip days, L tried to be sure to visit the bulletin board at Callahan's at least a few times, but he hadn't bothered just after lunch: there had been nothing all morning, and he had been too interested in the new bakery. It wasn't until after he said his farewells to Skulduggery that he made his way back. It was too bad that he couldn't buy more cream puffs to take back to the Institute, but they wouldn't keep.

The new notice on the board made an impression. He had to assume that the business owners in Doyleton were well aware that Saturday was the day when the patients would be in town, so the anniversary giveaway obviously wasn't meant to exclude them -- if that were the case, it would have been easy to hold it on another day. The mention of batteries meant that whatever was on offer was electronic, and that also piqued his curiosity.

So he made his way to the toy store, a place that had never attracted much of his attention before. It seemed quiet when he walked in, but it was obvious that the giveaway was still going on. And obvious that a familiar face had already taken advantage of it.

Once he and Kratos had parted ways in the toy shop, Lloyd knew exactly where he was going. Kratos had given him directions to the hardware store, and that was all Lloyd needed to hear. As soon as he entered the shop, though, his footstep, quick and purposeful before, slowed almost to a halt. His head turned left and right, just taking everything in. Tools. So many tools. He didn't even know what more than half of them did, and the ones he did recognize... Oh man, he'd never realized how many different hammers there were! Hammers and nails and those had to be drills, and there were saws and woodcutting tools.

What I wouldn't give to be able to use all this stuff! Yes, even the things he didn't know what they did!

Eager to explore, Lloyd took a step toward the first aisle. A whole aisle of tools, and more aisles behind it. He could almost be in heaven.

The Town
Although the temperature began to dip, the sky remained as clear as it had been. Even so, the cooler air seemed to serve as a good reminder to the nurses that it was time to get the patients back onto the three buses waiting in Magus Park.

As usual, the nurses kept a sharp eye out for anything that could have been considered dangerous. The fact patients were allowed to carry new items (including those silly toy radios) made it slightly more challenging, but not enough that they weren't up to the challenge. They didn't want to compromise anyone's safety, no matter how ready they were to leave town and get everyone tucked into their beds.

Scar

[From here]

Per usual, Scar clung closely to the edge of the street as he stepped back outside. The sun was beginning its slow descent toward the horizon, and he was reminded of the impending night. The day had been more productive and even more relaxing than he could have hoped, but the lingering threat of nightfall put a damper on his 'good' mood. He glanced reflexively toward the Elrics, putting together a plan in his mind. Once the buses arrived, he would have to be certain to keep with the boys, and his other allies if he could manage. Those beasts could come after them again.

Scar's less than pleasant thoughts were interrupted by a faint "meow" coming from an ally between two stores.
