lighthearted: gesture, smile, down (frustrated)

Day 27: Breakfast

Day came too soon.

Sora hadn't been able to find Rena, had instead been forced to crumple onto the grass of the recreational field and bleed all over himself, and hadn't even accomplished what he'd been sent out to do. What he'd been entrusted to do. He didn't know how he was going to be able to face Renji and the others, but he also knew he wasn't going to hide from them, either. That would just be low, after all, and he was ready to face up to the consequences.

He didn't try to make excuses for himself. Even though there had been a Special Counseling patient, they had managed to take her down by sheer numbers. The fact that he hadn't seen any sign of Rena was what had him the most worried. He hoped he could find her today.

The boy laid in his bed for a good while that morning before his nurse finally came in to collect him. She clucked over the bandages wrapped tightly around his chest and leg, and asked him if he was okay to walk.

Once Sora assured her he was fine (he didn't really want to use crutches, as that would just attract attention to himself, and he didn't need others worrying over him), they made their way to the cafeteria. Sora yawned and winced against the bright light of morning - it seemed even earlier than usual, and he realized why when they entered the cafeteria and found it empty.

The boy shuffled over to grab a chocolate chip pancake, a bowl of cereal, and a glass of milk (good for the bones, or so his mom had always told him) before settling at a table. He kept an eye on the door, hoping he would see Rena walking in soon.

"Agreement: Yes, I do hope they have my chassis, still in one piece. I see no real reason why it would be scrapped." Or at least he hoped there was no reason to scrap it. "Statement: The human meatbag design seems to have mainly evolved to maximize endurance, rather than strength or flexibility. Or speed. However, most civilians do not keep themselves in properly maintained, and after a while of relative atrophy they do very poorly in situations that rely on any attributes the model was designed for." It was always so funny in a disgusting sort of way when a middle-aged civilian target tried to escape him!

The offer was noted, and filed away for consideration. At the moment, he wasn't quite sure how it would do much good, but this meatbag was from an uncatalogued spacefaring species. If he could learn something about their technology, it might be quite useful to Sith research.

"Negative: The meatbag I spoke with was an apprentice. Possibly of the individual you mentioned. His designation was Obi Wan Kenobi." Another jedi here? He wasn't sure whether that was something to be happy about, or a reason to bang his head against the table in frustration. Why are there no Sith here?

"Agreement: Jedi have very bizarre views on most subjects. Being an assassin model, my opinions have generally been in conflict with theirs." They thought there should be peace, justice and equality throughout the galaxy. He just liked to kill things.

"Yes, I don't see why they'd destroy out original bodies either... it seems like that would be wasteful." ZEX didn't consider the possibility of never returning to his proper body. "And yes, human bodies are so resilient. It was one of the qualities that I found fascinating about them...although I now realize it's more difficult to put into practice than I assumed just by watching them. There's more skill to it than one would assume..." Who would have thought hands and fingers would require so much coordination? Humans made it look so easy.

"More than one Jedi... well, at least there are some other starfaring races here, that's reassuring. We're not entirely alone, I suppose." Although ZEX did note the mention of assassin, although he simply filed it away as something to keep in mind i the future.
