lighthearted: gesture, smile, down (frustrated)

Day 27: Breakfast

Day came too soon.

Sora hadn't been able to find Rena, had instead been forced to crumple onto the grass of the recreational field and bleed all over himself, and hadn't even accomplished what he'd been sent out to do. What he'd been entrusted to do. He didn't know how he was going to be able to face Renji and the others, but he also knew he wasn't going to hide from them, either. That would just be low, after all, and he was ready to face up to the consequences.

He didn't try to make excuses for himself. Even though there had been a Special Counseling patient, they had managed to take her down by sheer numbers. The fact that he hadn't seen any sign of Rena was what had him the most worried. He hoped he could find her today.

The boy laid in his bed for a good while that morning before his nurse finally came in to collect him. She clucked over the bandages wrapped tightly around his chest and leg, and asked him if he was okay to walk.

Once Sora assured her he was fine (he didn't really want to use crutches, as that would just attract attention to himself, and he didn't need others worrying over him), they made their way to the cafeteria. Sora yawned and winced against the bright light of morning - it seemed even earlier than usual, and he realized why when they entered the cafeteria and found it empty.

The boy shuffled over to grab a chocolate chip pancake, a bowl of cereal, and a glass of milk (good for the bones, or so his mom had always told him) before settling at a table. He kept an eye on the door, hoping he would see Rena walking in soon.

Ai didn't exactly wake up to receive any details regarding her stay here, so she didn't exactly know how to answer Ren's query. So then, it wasn't just all sweets and honey, wherever she was. The smiles the nurse made were fake then, weren't they? Ai had no idea what to think now, although she believed that she shouldn't jump into conclusions. She'll just leave any information hanging for now. Until she finds proof or something else, though.

"I do not know" was all she replied.

"All right, then I'll find you one way or another." When it came to the situation on a whole, the doll wasn't sure whether to be more worried or less worried - he was at an unhappy balance. With Ojou as she was, the chance of her getting hurt were high, but even if her body were killed here or anywhere else, she'd still come back as the Jigoku Shoujo. At least until her own contract had been fulfilled. Until then, a higher power kept her alive.

But that was hardly a good enough reason not to worry over her safety.

They daytime, so far, seemed normal enough, though even that couldn't be trusted too much. "What do you want to do? So far Ichimoto Ren's just been meeting a few people here and there." By mentioning the alias he'd been using this time around, at least Ojou would know what name to use if she ever had to reference him. Not that it ever happened. "If you want to be on your own, I can meet up with you later. Otherwise, you can come back with me and meet his guy I've been talking to if you want. I think it's a good idea to meet as many of the prisoners as we can. Get a feel for them, you know?"

After all, Ojou was the decision-maker; he just posed some suggestions.

For Ai, it was sort of comforting that she was being asked to make the decisions, when it came to the two of them. Never mind the fact that she was informed that her friends sent her here. Now why would a friend do that? To make it even worse, it was as if they were pinning her to the ground with whatever they're trying to do to her, wherever they were. An insane asylum or a mental facility or whatever.

But Ai wasn't really the type who would tell what she feels, face-to-face. She was going to play along. Just play along, even though her sense of doubt was overpowering her sense of sense of trust. It would waver sooner or later. It was always like that. She didn't want the same thing that happened before to happen again too.

She took the chance of having a moment of silence before speaking again; to get the feel of everything. She was busy deciding on what to do next too. It wouldn't hurt to eat something while she was there, yes? The facility wouldn't try poisoning her or anything. Ren seems fine, why not?

Ai nodded, and said: "I want to have breakfast first, afterwards, please show me around". Whatever that meant, it was entirely up to Ren to comprehend.

Breakfast... right. At least he'd taken care of that necessity already.

Seeing Ojou eat regularly was something of a novelty, so he just nodded and sat back, at ease with her request, vague though it was. He'd have to explain what else he knew, and try to remember the details of that map he'd been shown...

Lucky he was pretty good at retaining facts at his age.

The tail end of the shift was spent in relative silence, although it was the sort of quiet they were comfortable with.

[and after veering that off in my own direction, I'll double post to another area for us? Since you seem busy. XD]
