One might have expected another set of depressed statements from the officer, but Harrington seemed to have bounced back to his usual cheery self. The intercom clicked to life, and the man again launched into his announcement. Granted, he still kept the formality in his words, but the tone reeked of good spirits.

It was almost tangible to the audience.

"Good afternoon," he began. "Minors are to report to the showers for clean up. Everyone else is permitted to participate in arts and crafts or standby in the Sun Room.

"We will continue have a soldier available for any questions or concerns. If you're lucky, you might even have the pleasure of my company!"

There was an awkward pause, one poignant in its uncertainty.

"...Thank you."

The intercom clicked off.
