Huh, her plan to run past the monster actually worked. Go figure.

If the others wanted to fight it, then that was their problem. She had other plans for the night, and all of them involved making it to the kitchen, alive, and with all of her body parts.

Her heart was still racing, but she couldn’t stop now. All that remained was to make it through the cafeteria.

Unfortunately, Raven was also well aware that it was never that easy.

Mason stepped (painfully) through the doorway to the next office, and was greeted with the bizarre sight of lots of weird little gadgets on the desk.

"What do you think, my man?" he asked Lei. "Anything in here worth grabbing?"

This office seemed stuffy and professional. Probably not a lot of good stuff to be found, but Mason was determined to give it a shot.

He made his way over to the desk and started riffling through the drawers.

"Here," Jean said, as they approached the shed. It didn't look all that big, not in the vastness of the recreational field, but there had to be things that they could use, that they could remake. Like weapons.

A closer look revealed an old lock on the door, though. What to do? It looked like with enough strength, it would break...

Just as the other night, when Kurama opened the door, there were doors littered on either side of the hallway that stretched back from the flashlight beam into darkness. He listened for any movement before stepping across the threshold and approaching the first door to try the knob. Locked. Fairly well, he judged upon closer inspection of the lock. Normally, it wouldn't matter to a master thief, but this wasn't a lock he could pick with the mediocre tools he'd fashioned in this place. Not for the first time or the last, the fox frowned and silently cursed his lack of power.

Continuing down the hall, assuming Hiei and his friend would follow his lead without complaint, Kurama shone his light on each passing handle. Eight..nine..ten rooms with the exact same fashion of lock, judging by looks alone. Curious. They would have to come back later and see if they could be broken down. For now, he wanted to remain as quiet as possible.

The sixth set of doors presented a pleasant change: a different set of locks, and these seemed a bit shabbier. Kurama leaned the bat within easy reach against the wall next to the right-hand door. The flashlight he set on the floor to shine up at the knob above.

"Keep an eye out for creatures," Kurama spoke quietly over his shoulder to his two companions before retrieving his makeshift picks from his slipper and setting to work at the lock.
