2nd Floor Hallway Leading to the Morgue
[From here.]
The door opened into another hallway. Hijikata followed Homura silently, always on alert for whatever would be lurking in the darkness. He hadn't noticed the uncertainty yet because of Homura's concealment, the darkness and the fact that his senses were focused elsewhere he kept moving.

Hijikata would question both these plans and others, something Homura knew he didn't need.
The choice was made regretably easier, however, as they came to the end of the hall. Only a single door to the left, and no choice but to take it. "Since neither of us knows a subtler way..." Homura smirked, and slammed into the door enough times to force it open before heading into the next room.

The door was open, and Peony, used to sneaking and being surprisingly silent for someone as normally loud and shameless as himself, crept through. Oh, he was quite practiced at this.
But he suddenly stopped. There was the sound of the slamming of a door coming from the end of the hallway along with a few stray flashlight beams, and Peony stopped dead in his tracks, hand immediately shooting back to protect the two girls just in case. Then he clicked the shine-tube off instinctively. And waited.
When the man had slipped into the next room, he withdrew his hand and turned around, nodding and turning his flashlight back on.
"Coast's clear," he whispered.

The commotion at the far end of the hall tore Anise from her thoughts and put her back on guard. What was it? She wanted to use the flashlight to see if someone was there, but knew that doing so wouldn't be a smart move. What if she attracted the attention of something dangerous?
Whatever may have been there a moment ago disappeared into the far room, to her relief. Shining her flashlight around, it looked like there were only two ways to go. Following whatever had made that noise seemed like it could lead to trouble. And they didn't want that, right? Which left...
Anise grinned as she let the light of her flashlight rest on the door nearest to them. "What now? Do we start raiding a few rooms?" She gave a light giggle. Even in a dreary place like this, a little mischief could be fun!

Why was this place so eerie? It was starting to make her sick. If she were in her room now, Cyrille would enjoy the warmth comfort of the rather stiff and plain bed that was left for her. Though at the moment it would have been a comforting place to be, she forced herself to continue down the hall. She wanted to escape more than anything, her duties as a heritor... Toma... those things came first and foremost.
She was still scared out of her wits, let me tell you. The scuffle ahead was directly in the area they were heading... they couldn't go back now, could they? They were so close to their destination, she could feel it. She wasn't sure what they were hoping to find, but this hallway could only go so far. It could only go so deep. Soon, they would reach a wall, and then... then what?
"Then again..." Her words slow and hinting sadness, "It won't really matter if we're caught. Maybe we can find something for our use." Oh, and there was a glint in her eyes. Perhaps not a visible one, but surely surviving here would take anything and everything they could get their hands on. Now was not the moment to think about rules and regulations!

"Well, there is a door right here," Peony said, thinking that they might as well get at this one before anyone else did. What could be inside? Had anyone gotten to it yet?
He tried the knob - no go. "Huh, how should we get in?" Peony mused aloud. It seemed like a weak enough lock... Maybe that was the source of the sounds coming from down the hallway from before! Yeah, that was probably it. These doors were probably all locked. But there had to be a way in! Or to break inside. Force? "I think maybe if someone hit it with a bat..."
With that, he looked expectantly at the young Fon Master Guardian next to him, as if to say Hey, give it a try!

Anise returned the emperor's look with a bright smile. "Okay, stand back!" Switching her flashlight off for the time being, she set it on the floor by her feet. Gripping the metal pipe with both hands, she lifted it over her head, and brought it crashing down in one swift motion.
The doorknob was torn from the door and clattered to the ground. Well, something broke all right. Did that do it? Anise gave the door a shove, swinging it wide open. "Wow! It worked!" she announced. Retrieving her flashlight from the ground, she led the way inside.

It was good to be out of the drafts for certain, and someplace where there was at least a little ambient light. Hijikata shifted the weight of the bag on his shoulder and started back the way they had come.

The doors were open, but beyond that, Mewtwo could see nothing in the darkness that stretched before him. He frowned, now regretting throwing his flashlight at the creature. He thought it consumed only flesh and blood, but the creature had proven otherwise.
"Suzumiya, do you have a flashlight with you?" The Pokémon asked, hoping that this was the case. It would not serve them well to wander around unknown halls blindly.

"Huh?" Haruhi said at first, shaken from her thoughts. "Oh, I should. Crap, I hope it didn't get left there... Check my pockets." She really would have liked to do this herself rather than have some man do it for her.

The dim light didn't reveal much, but as long as he saw no monsters, Mewtwo was relatively pleased. He could see only one door before him, and the hallway stretched on without another in sight.
So there was only one way to go, then. That made things rather simple.

Now that she was slowly regaining the feeling in her body, she was able to hold herself on with her arms a bit this time, though still somewhat weakly. But she could feel herself growing stronger all the time as the paralysis faded away. Soon enough, she'd be able to use her legs and walk! At least, she hoped so. But she wasn't about to get negative again!
"Maybe I'll be able to walk soon," she said to him, encouragingly. The sooner she could stop depending on him to carry her then the better she would feel. Maybe they could tend to his own wound better then. Haruhi felt like she was only making it worse.

The flashlight did little to illuminate the dark hall, but as Mewtwo walked on, he finally noticed another door, once they finally reached the end of the hall. Just two? On this entire hall? Mewtwo could guess that the other rooms were only accessible through these two doors.
Before he entered, Mewtwo cautiously propped the door open and scanned the room with the flashlight. There was nothing here... that was alive.
Not sure what to make of the dead creature he saw on the floor, Mewtwo entered anyway, assuming that because there was nothing feeding on it, there was nothing here.
