Nightshift 26: Hall and Stairway near Medical Wing
((Coming from here.))
This was the far end of the institute. Caim eyed the area around him, not seeing anything ... yet. Who knew if there was another enemy like the one in the sun room waiting just around the corner?
Caim turned back to the stairway. Upstairs, he would find what he was looking for: a weapon. Even if it was haphazard and last-minute, it would serve him better than having nothing at all.
Quickly, he made his way to the staircase and ascended.

Javert gestured briefly at the stairwell as he and St. Just approached. "These should take us close to the hallway where Trevelyan and I were last night."

It looked like he’d reached the end of the hallway. There was a staircase here, one that presumably led to the second floor.
Before climbing the stairs, Siegfried checked behind him. Whatever had been in the Sun Room was making him feel unnecessarily cautious.

Kadaj was considerably less stealthy on his way down the stairs than he had been on his way up them, in no small part due to how irritated at himself he now was. How much time had he wasted?! Mother would be so disappointed in him-- and he'd been getting better, too! After telling off the traitor like he had, it should have been easy to regain her favor, but...
He'd need to work extra hard now. If only he knew for certain what she wanted him to do-- surely there had to be something he could achieve here. Escape would be the greatest achievement of all, but after spending so much time here, he wasn't even sure if that was within his reach. How was he supposed to know what to do without Mother's voice to guide him?
Sephiroth would know what to do, but he wasn't here right now. Figures.
Growling to himself, he reached the bottom of the stairs and stalked through the next hall. He'd have to do this as quickly as possible if he wanted to make up the ground he'd lost. Then he could focus on pleasing Mother.

When they came out into the first floor hallway, Aidou knew he'd made the right choice to come back - by the time they got to the cell blocks, the night would be over. And he couldn't even be too upset over it; there was a part of him that was concerned over what would happen should he keep going. As with Agni's paralyzing agent, who knew what long term effects this thing had.
He sighed, and shifted, looking to Bella. "Guess we'll be together until night ends; sorry to disappoint you if you wanted company in a better mood."

After a few moments of silence, Bella turned back to Aidou and quirked an eyebrow, a curious look crossing her face. "You know, you never told me how old you really were. It's not like you're actually thirty or something, right?"

There was no mood for sport tonight, so he just said, "How could I be that old? People wish for my looks, or so I was told quite recently. I'm eighteen," he said simply, reiterating her own words from before. Of course, it was a most blatant lie, as he was not eighteen by his own standards, and far past eighteen in hers, but who would ever know but another vampire? And it was only him.
Irony was so bitter.
He started moving down the hallway. The sun was coming, and he really didn't know what else to do but talk. His mind was no longer a safe place. "And for your information, there are plenty of other people in your position. You'll learn that quickly enough. The number of competent fighters is minuscule."

Obviously she had a problem with age, but she didn’t tell him about it.
The hallway was getting a bit lighter, much to her delight, and she looked down at the pipe in her hand and nodded her head in agreement to Aidou’s comment. “Well, that’s good at least. I’ll learn on my own.”
