Nightshift 26: First Floor Stairwell Beside Waiting Room 1

Aidou paused for the second time that night, listening half-heartedly to the radio announcement. The volume was painfully low, so that it didn't attract any unwanted attention. None of it interested him, even as the riddles came easily enough. None of it was useful to him. So far nothing the monkey on the radio had offered had caught his eye, and he doubted that would change.

Stepping into the stairwell, he glanced to the floor. He was willing to bet the other three stairwells on this floor were the same - no stairs leading to the basement, and no stairs leading past the second floor.

So where were the access points? It was a good question.

"The question is not whether you can walk, but how much blood you will lose if you do," Jean said, her voice a little crisp. Her injuries, along with being unable to complete the map, were making her a little cranky.

"Gremio, I trust you are strong enough that a short trip to the first floor will not be a problem." As soon as Leon was properly settled in, they were heading downstairs. Much as Leon didn't like it, it would be quicker, and they'd have more time to try and attend to their injuries in relative safety.

"For heaven's sake, you're in no position to be killing anyone. Now just hold on, will you? I swear I'm not going to drop you." He fell to his knees, both arms going back to grab the wounded man's legs, before finally standing again, lifting Leon with surprising strength.

He adjusted his grip on him so that he could carry him a bit easier, before turning his attention back to Jean. "It won't be a problem at all. Let's get going."

Leon actually weighed very little, in any case, just barely over 100lbs. He briefly tightened his arms around Gremio's neck a little too much, at the comment that he was in no position to be killing anyone. Obviously, he disagreed. He eased up after a moment, though, snorting softly to himself. "I'm left-handed, besides."

Jean nodded tightly. "Very well," she said. "We leave." Time was of the essence, and indeed, they'd wasted enough of it already.
