Nightshift 26: First Floor Stairwell Beside Waiting Room 1
[from here]
Aidou paused for the second time that night, listening half-heartedly to the radio announcement. The volume was painfully low, so that it didn't attract any unwanted attention. None of it interested him, even as the riddles came easily enough. None of it was useful to him. So far nothing the monkey on the radio had offered had caught his eye, and he doubted that would change.
Stepping into the stairwell, he glanced to the floor. He was willing to bet the other three stairwells on this floor were the same - no stairs leading to the basement, and no stairs leading past the second floor.
So where were the access points? It was a good question.

Most humans would have balked at the sight of a large, dead feline Pok- ... monster. Mewtwo had never seen a creature like this, fearing for it to be a dead Pokémon. But though it looked like one, he could tell that there was something off about this creature.
Of course, perhaps he simply didn't know any better. Even Mewtwo did not know how many Pokémon species existed in the world. He ignored the corpse, more interested in what could have killed it.
... And why the human child sounded disappointed that the creature was dead. Mewtwo was no expert on human emotion, but knew most humans would be frightened.
"You are very strange. Were you wishing this creature to be alive?"

Strange. She had to grin at that. Strange was just a blunt way to say 'unique,' which suited Haruhi just fine. "Of course! Wouldn't it be more fun if it was still alive? I haven't seen anything this big that wasn't dead... it's kind of disappointing."
She frowned then and stood up, bored with the dead cat. Man, how many days was she going to have to stay here before she found some cool monsters? Well, she would have found some tonight if that EDD girl hadn't skipped out on her. How rude. If Haruhi ever saw her again, then she was definitely gonna get it. Haruhi would make sure of that.

Mewtwo wondered if this place had brought actual insane humans to help maintain the image of a treatment center for humans, but he didn't bother voicing his thoughts. Not that he did much, though he certainly wouldn't start in front of a human.
"Let us continue. Perhaps there is a live creature elsewhere."
Mewtwo actually also wanted to see one of these creatures as alive, for if they were Pokémon, he could hopefully still communicate it. His body may have been changed, but Mewtwo's mind was still intact. Even though he knew the human language, the Pokémon language was no stranger to him.
