"Oh," Rukia said, somewhat surprised that Renji hadn't told Kairi he was dead. At Kairi's compliment, she smiled, chuckling quietly. "Well, we age very slowly in Soul Society - uh, the after life." She and Renji were just about the same age, but he had died as a young boy, whereas Rukia had died as an infant. Rukia suspected that was why Renji looked so much older than her, though she didn't hold out much hope that she would grow any taller.

"Don't worry about it," she added, noting the other girl's discomfort. "I don't remember anything from when I was alive, so there's nothing to be sad about." Taking a few bites of food, Rukia was silent again for a few moments. Then, "So, what are you doing tonight? Something with Sora?"
