Day 26: Men's Showers (fourth shift)

The concept of showering with a bunch of children terrified him, but he refused to let it show. He was over 130 years old, and they wanted him to get naked and bathe, surrounded by kids very nearly a tenth his age. It was certainly inappropriate. On the other hand, he had to shower. It was his third day in this asylum, and he had not been given the opportunity for a shower yet. The idea of wiping off the filth of the last two nights seemed ideal.

Thankfully, he seemed to be the first one there. Maybe if he were quick about it, he could shower and leave before too many of the children came in. He got undressed, and stared at the showers for a second. They were significantly different from the ones he was accustomed to, but after a small amount of trial, error, and scalding hot water, he managed to figure out the system.

He'd just need to get through the showers quickly and efficiently, and then get the hell back to the sun room.

[Waiting for Kurikara. Naked midget wrestling, yo!]

Hiei's conversation with Sparda had initially done him some good, at least until it became obvious that the demon was suffering from the same disease as Kurama was. While Sparda didn't wish to hide his true nature, he was so concerned about being helpful that by the end of the conversation, Hiei only glared at the man in cold silence.

If that was going to be how things turned out, he shouldn't have helped them close the hole to the demon realm.

The idea of bathing naked with a bunch of other patients didn't bother Hiei--though being lumped with one of the children added a nurse to the demon's hit list--and the demon headed to one of the first showers. While some of the more moronic demons had no inclination towards bathing, Hiei thankfully wasn't one of them. He began scrubbing quickly, harder than he had to, but he had to take out the frustration somehow.

Kurama was being stupid, and Hiei was being stupid by listening to him. Keeping a low profile. Now Hiei understood the real meaning behind that comment, and shot a glare at one of the nurses.

It would make him feel much, much better to go after one of them...

Despite getting the chance to punch Tsuzuki in the gut, Kurikara was not overly pleased. He was anxious and restless. He was looking forward to a bath, but the showers would do little to ease his tension, and in fact they were only made worse by a nurse who insisted on leading him into the children's showers.

Kurikara had nothing against children, but he was certainly not one of them. He threw his clothes at her and stormed out into the showers, looking dangerous and moody...

...So of course his mood could only be improved by finding himself next to the little demon from the night before. That was fine. He could use a fight.

"Shut up." He snapped before Hiei so much as looked at him. He turned the water up scalding hot and wished it would soak him to the bone.

Oh, just what Hiei needed to brighten his day. The midget from the night before come to call, telling him to shut up when he hadn't said a word.

Of course that meant Hiei was going to talk to him now. Thrashing the mini-dragon would be a perfect way to vent his frustrations.

"As if I would waste my time talking to you." Hiei sneered at Kurikara, pointing to one of the more crowded areas of the shower. "Why don't you go complain to the whiney children in the back? They'd probably want someone else on their level to talk with."

[identity profile] hotlittledragon.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Kurikara wiped the water out of his eyes and glared at him from beneath his steaming shower. "Didn't I just tell you to shut up? If anyone should be playing with the children, it's a little demon child like you."

He'd never had to keep his emotions in check before. For better or worse, he let them stir and grow and he moved as he pleased - but even that wasn't allowed in this prison. Kurikara clenched his fist. Let them try to stop him.

[identity profile] deathbymidget.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
At that moment, Hiei decided that Kurama's warnings were as annoying as his desire to hide among the humans. If people were going to keep pissing Hiei off, then screw the low profile. The demon was going to pay them back for each bit of frustration they made him suffer.

Nurses, institute, Kurama...they could all be damned.

"I'll show you what a demon can do, you fool!" It was the only warning he gave before Hiei lunged at Kurikara, intent on tackling the dragon to the ground. Oh, it'd feel so good to pound the hell out of him, his fists already tight in anticipation of the satisfying strikes against flesh.

[identity profile] hotlittledragon.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
A smirk flickered across Kurikara's lips, and then Hiei had tackled him to the floor. He manged to protect his head from hitting the tiles, but his shoulder took a bruising as he twisted, trying to shove the demon back against the floor or roll with him until he could trap him against the wall.

He took every purchase he could find with his fingers, clawing and punching and grabbing hard enough to leave bruises. The training was there, but instinct overruled it, and Kurikara let his temper run wild as a forest fire.

After all, what was one more death on his head?

[identity profile] deathbymidget.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Hiei normally knew the value of dodging and defense, and was very good at not getting hit. He was simply too fast for most demons, able to artfully move away from each blow until he saw an opening to make the kill.

But at the moment? Hiei didn't care about defending himself.

"Damn bastard!" Hiei growled as he took every hit, every grab, and returned each with one of his own. When Kurikara's hand strayed too close to his mouth, the demon even upped the ante by biting hard into the flesh, teeth sinking in til Hiei tasted blood. Their fight wasn't about honor or style, the only purpose to beat the hell out of the other guy, and Hiei was determined to give worse than he got.

His back slammed hard against the wall as Kurikara continued to roll and writhe, but Hiei refused to be weakened by the pain. He pushed hard against the tile with his foot, rolling atop Kurikara again, continuing to punch and claw and kick each chance he got.

[identity profile] hotlittledragon.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Kurikara tried to yank his hand away hard despite the pain that shot through it, and he knew he'd succeeded in damaging it a hell of a lot more. He growled in pain and anger. He didn't care. His only intent was to attack. The second Hiei got on top of him, Kurikara threw all of his weight into bucking him off.

Topped by a young demon? The dragon didn't think so. His bite wasn't so random as Hiei's - he aimed for the throat, but it was hard to get a grip and his teeth found a collar bone to sink into where he had wanted a vein.

He tasted blood, and it stirred his own. He wrapped his legs around Hiei's to prevent the demon from trying to get on top of him again and pulled where he had bitten down. What was that expression? He wanted a piece of him.

[identity profile] deathbymidget.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hiei let out a sharp cry as Kurikara got his wish, a chunk of his flesh ripping clean from his body. The pain could be ignored, however, as could the flow of blood over his skin. The wound didn't matter, not until Hiei made the midget suffer for what he had done.

The demon's hand shot up, gripping hard around Kurikara's throat. Nails dug into flesh as Hiei squeezed, determined to cut off the dragon's air supply. But that wasn't good enough, no, not for Hiei. He wanted the other to be in agony, and intending to pay like for like, he bit into the flesh of Kurikara's shoulder.

[identity profile] damned-nurses.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Two orderlies and a nurse quickly descended upon the fighting patients, the nurse with a threatening needle in her hand. The orderlies wasted no time in seizing the struggling boys, bending down and wrenching them apart.

"What is the meaning of this?" the nurse demanded, her eyes narrowed and one hand on her hip. Honestly, the patients got worse and worse every day! And this...

This was beyond the usual violent scuffles she was used to!

[identity profile] hotlittledragon.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
As they were pulled apart, Kurikara made a choked sound of pain; Hiei managed to pull away his own bit of flesh. He swallowed what was in his mouth and gave the demon a bloody grin. The taste of blood was almost choking, and his breathing was already laboured from the earlier strangling.

Still, the demon would know what he meant.

"Looks like a fight to me." He told the nurse. Stupid girl. Kurikara raised his leg slightly at first, as if it were injured, then without warning tried to slam it back down onto the orderly's instep.

[identity profile] deathbymidget.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Kurikara swallowed while Hiei spat, the bloody bite of flesh hitting the shower floor. He wasn't in much better of a state than his opponent, but the demon's cocky grin matched Kurikara's own.

Yes, the demon did indeed know what he meant.

"Fools!" Hiei added his own insult as he bent his arm, slamming his elbow back at the man's gut in an attempt to force the orderly to loosen his grip because of the pain. Filthy humans, trying to spoil the most fun Hiei had had all day.

They would pay for that.

[identity profile] damned-nurses.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
That was that.

The nurse moved in quickly while the wincing and cursing orderlies struggled to restrain the patients. They barely held on. The nurse was well trained, administering quick jabs of sedatives to the two patients.

"That is more than enough!" she snapped. "Any more outbursts and you will find yourselves in solitary confinement!"

[identity profile] hotlittledragon.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Kurikara knew that needle well, and though he tried to avoid it there was little hope. At least he could be assured that the orderlies had been injured. He felt the drugs begin to work almost immediately; it was one of the failings of a small body.

The dragon slurred something that could have been obscene. It was just to bad he could barely hold himself up anymore.

He wasn't done fighting...after he slept...after the ground came back down...

[identity profile] deathbymidget.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
While Hiei wasn't familiar enough with many of the marvels of modern medicine, he knew enough to not want the needle anywhere near him, much less in him. But some battles couldn't be won, and the larger man managed to hold on long enough for the drugs to do their work.

Hiei's curse was about as understandable as the dragon's. Something in his head told him he should be really pissed off, but somehow, it failed to register beyond that tiny click. Slumping down, the demon grumbled under his breath, his efforts focusing on trying to stay upright.
