Day 75: DAWN, MORNING, NOON, AND AFTERNOON

As the day started, the weather only seemed to be improving, and some patients might even call it warm. Granted, the climate control in the building meant it wouldn't make a difference until someone chose to venture outside.

For now, though, it was time for breakfast, and the intercom came on to wake up all of the patients from their enforced slumber.

"Breakfast sandwiches... how could you not look forward to something like that, dear patients?" Even as Landel spoke, the nurses started peeking into rooms and rousing people from their beds.

"There's plenty to look forward to today, from the recreational field to the greenhouse. I hope that you all enjoy your days and your lunches."

As usual, lunch would be handed out in a paper bag, offering some fruit and vegetables to snack on, along with a sandwich as the main course and pudding for dessert.

"That's all for now!" Though the Head Doctor would be announcing the different shift changes throughout the day, as usual.

Mingle log guidelines:

1. All Day Shift 75 threads will take place in the comments to this post.
2. PROSE!
3. Tag under the proper time of day for the thread. You do not have to stick to one thread per shift, as long as you don't try to do a large total number of threads (4 or less is best, but a fifth won't get you in trouble).
4. Subject line of your opening tag: Location (required), shift (optional), OPEN (if appropriate). Putting "OPEN" in the subject line should make it easier for other players to find open threads, and the nature of this log means that you should be able to pick up an open thread that interests you even if you already have something scheduled for that shift. Threads which are not open can be marked the way they always are, with the names of the other characters in small text after the opening post.
5. Each thread should have its own separate starter, just like on any other DS. The format of threads is not changing, only the format of the log post itself, and the fact that you don't have to strictly stick to one thread per shift.

"I see." That was a relief. "I've noticed that larger groups often have difficulty getting anywhere, so we'll be heading up there on our own. I'm glad to know we won't be the only ones." Lloyd's description implied that some or all of them were more familiar with fighting than either she or Ryuuzaki was; both of them knew what to do with a pistol, but there was a difference between training and experience.

And she didn't especially want to remedy that any more than she already had, but she would do what she had to. "If we're lucky, multiple teams might draw off some of the attacks."

Hang on. Sora was the kid who'd met Byrne. She didn't flinch, but it was an effort. She was recruiting children to fight. It wasn't like they would be any safer staying in their beds, an argument Ema had made over and over, and a convincing one, but it still horrified her. Maybe they'd stay in the archives -- but she didn't expect them to. "Ryuuzaki claims to be good with computers, so if we can get into the main security system, he'll have a good chance of getting something useful out of them."

"They do?" That piece of information took Lloyd by surprise. He hadn't ever made that connection. Then again, maybe it made sense. Larger groups would be easier to spot - easier for Landel to send monsters to intercept and interfere with their progress. "Well, either way, don't feel like you have to fight alone. Even if it slows us down, it's better than someone getting hurt." And not attracting attention with a large group wouldn't be important anymore if you'd already been noticed by a monster.

"If you guys do find something... You have a radio, right?" The question was mostly rhetorical. He remembered the radio call she'd sent out last night, even though none of his group had felt like they needed to respond. They'd only just seen her and Ryuuzaki, after all. "You can call us and let us know what you find. You want our radio numbers?"

"I do, and I will. And the same goes for you." They weren't strong, but they were armed, and Ryuuzaki had put together a decent medical kit.

Ryuuzaki might have gotten the numbers, and some of them were on the list that had gone around, but it couldn't hurt to take them again. "Here's mine and Ryuuzaki's," she said, tearing two pages out of her notebook and jotting them down on one. Then she offered both pages, and the pen, to Lloyd.

"We've also both got those rings, so we can get out of a bad situation." In theory. It had worked so well when Gant had done it, after all, but since they both had them, they didn't have to get to each other.

Lloyd took the offered papers, eyes skimming over the numbers she'd written on the first. He wasn't sure if he remembered seeing either on on the list of numbers that had gone around, but he felt better having another copy on hand. He folded and tucked it into his pocket before uncapping the pen she'd given him.

"Rings?" he echoed, curious at the mention even as he started writing down the radio numbers for Kratos, Castiel, and himself. "What rings?" What kind of ring could get someone out of a bad situation? Did they have something like a Sorcerer's Ring?

Finished with writing, he slid the paper back to her, then capped the pen and handed it back. There. Now they'd definitely be able to contact each other if anything important came up.
