Nightshift 25: Hallway outside the Sun Room and Entry Room
( From here)
Jack rounded the corner from the residence block and headed towards the entry room. If the map was correct, it was across from the sun room, and Jack knew where THAT was, at least. He approached the sun room door, turning to look across the hall.
"What do you know," he remarked, "There IS another door."
He'd never given much thought to what could have been across the way before, as it didn't directly affect his wellbeing. Now, though, he knew it held another path to the outside, preferably one without giant lightning monsters that wanted to eat him. What's the worst that could be running around on the INSIDE of this place? Sadistic psychopaths with swords and the desire to end the Fable's life? He'd taken care of THAT threat. Going out the front door was probably the safest path available.
Whistling an upbeat tune, Jack opened the door to the Entry Room and slid in.

Momo continued her briefing of Signum as they continued through the empty hallway into the Sun Room. (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/151868.html)

The ex-general had her choice of doors, it seemed. She chose to go left, into a place called the 'Sun Room'. She paused for a moment outside the doors, tying her hair back. It was annoying to throw a punch if something got a hold of her hair
and anything that tried was a pansy wench."Very well then. Onward." Celes murmured to herself and pushed open the doors.

A larger hallway... well, this was encouraging. All he had to do was find an office, or some place that might have information on how to get out of here, or at least, how he was changed to this shape.
ZEX looked around, noticing the stairs leading upwards. That seemed promising... there had to be something interesting up there, or helpful at least.
He headed upwards.

There was a wide-open door here. Chloe peered in and saw that it led into some kind of lounge. There were patients here too. She sighed and kept going.

Well, this was pointless.
She had no chance of finding the place where the dead were kept on her own, she realised, panning the torch left and right in front of her, half-interested, half-irritable. She would need to find someone else. Someone who knew their way around.
Oh, where was Lust when she was needed?
The beam of light lit up the back of a slim, wild-looking young woman, moving quite quickly away from her - she appeared to be on her own, and not in any real danger. Well, it was worth a try.
"Hello!" she called, sharply, intending the woman to stop. "Who goes there?"

Rangiku moved quickly, but not too fast as to leave her companions behind. The Sun Room, thankfully, was one place she didn't need any directions or maps to find. She stopped outside the door, frowning with concentration. The doors were wide open and she could hear movement from inside. It didn't sound favourable.
She peered inside, around the corner of the door and then pulled back. No. Not good. That woman... whatever she was it wasn't normal. Most likely working for Landel.
Rangiku turned back to her companions, a serious look on her face. "There's something in there. We need to cross the room as quickly as possible and not give it a chance to catch us. Looks like a woman in a kimono."

Demyx nodded in agreement with Rangiku. He definitely didn't want to come head to head with it, whatever it was. If they could get through there fast enough, maybe they wouldn't have to. Demyx could only hope.
He moved back from the door a bit, towards the middle of the group. Well, he definitely wasn't going to go first!

River fled like a frightened animal, not looking back; instead, her eyes were busy watching for an avenue of escape.
Or, to be more accurate, a place where she and her would-be brother could have some quality time together, undisturbed.

In any other situation, he would have been more cautious. But when it came to his little sisters, protective instincts overrode all others.

Jack noticed that there were actually people running around in the hall this time. 'Way to come help with the screaming bitch from hell,' he thought bitterly to himself. Then again, if any of them HAD shown up, they might have laid claim to HIS key. Worthless as it was at the moment, the Fable knew better than anyone else how a key was never as useless as it appeared at first glance.
Not really acknowledging the others, the giant killer went on his way.

In this hallway he actually heard voices. The second thing he noticed was the staircase just across from him, and he thought that perhaps the second floor would do him some favors and offer him a window to slip out of. He had withstood longer falls than that for much less, though the prospect wasn't a comfortable one. He poised himself just out of view and glanced around the corner to make sure that whoever was there wasn't looking his way, and then he slipped across the short distance between himself and the stairway.

Javert managed about five steps more after exiting the Sun Room before he collapsed against the wall, teeth still obstinately clenched. The cuts he'd received across his chest and back had already soaked through a good portion of his shirt, and patches of red were beginning to appear on the legs of his pants as well.
He half-closed his eyes, forcing himself to breathe normally. He just needed a bit of a breather, that was all. It wasn't anything to be worried about.

If it had been anything but fire, he would have almost been able to deal with it rationally. But the damned ghost hadn't cut him up, she'd used fire, fire, for God's sake, and now he was going to have to pay for it. He'd almost have preferred bleeding like Javert. At least he didn't have any bewitched fireballs following him like a lost puppy, Alec thought grimly, sneaking a quick glance back at his fellow patient.
That half-turn had cost him. Stupid! he cursed himself, and the next thing he knew there was a horrible pain on his right shoulder and the sizzling stink of burnt flesh and cotton shirt. He immediately dropped to the ground, clutching his shoulder and trying very hard not to cry out. He half-succeeded, letting out a strangled "Argh!" and curling up. The memories of the failed escape at Arkangelsk were coming back to him now. Only a broken piece of floor had saved him from most of the fury of the explosion, but the right side of his body hadn't been left unscathed. It looked like the same thing had happened here, and damn well felt like it, too. What with his luck, it was probably some sort of cursed fire, something that would drain his strength as well as burn him.
He took a few deep, shuddering breaths, trying to get back to reality, or whatever passed for reality in this twisted place. With effort, he managed to get to his feet and lurch slowly towards Javert. Christ, but it hurt!

Ashton looked around warily as he entered the main hallway, making sure there were no monsters about. It wasn't as if he could see them - he was still very much without a flashlight - but his eyes had adjusted as they generally did in the darkness. What he would give to have his dragons at a time like this, their extrasensory sight and hearing!
Turning back to Ami, making sure she was still safe behind him, he said quietly, "There are human monsters and animal monsters - everything from rotting zombie dogs to little children who'll look inside your mind. I've seen both, and neither are very fun. Also, they do experiments on people, turn them against their friends for a night. No one knows why they do it, but I've read various reports on the Bulletin Board of this happening."
He bit his lip for a moment, pausing, then spoke again. "Eh heh.. I take it you're familiar with monsters, then?"

Ami followed Ashton into what appeared to be a larger, yet still quiet, hallway, jotting down more notes in her journal before tucking it into her waistband. She shivered as he descibed the monsters, wrapping her arms around herself. What kind of psycho puts peope in here and messes with their minds and emotions? she wondered, chilled at the thought.
She noticed his pause and hurridly replied. "Actually, I am," she said, hoping to allay his fears. "I...have fought many monsters in many different forms over the past two years....and seen friends brainwashed by the enemy." She paused. "Only I had my powers then, and while meeting this Roy Mustang would likely be very helpful, unfortunately he can't make the object I need." She sighed, concerned about the whereabouts of her missing change rod.
"So I guess what I really need is some sort of defensive weapon..." she trailed off. All she had on her was her journal, some pens, and the flashlight, which she had switched off when hearing about monsters roaming the premises.

"If we were to assume there's something sacred indeed," Seishirou begun after stepping to yet another hallway. He turned halfway towards Kikyo as he still continued on his way to the direction where he supposed the kitchen resided. First left, then to the sunroom...
"What would you want to do with it?"
no subject
The chuckle died on Kikyo's lips as he turned the question over in his mind. He was still quite fuzzy in his head, not quite certain of all the words he spoke, and whether he meant any of it, really. But he answered relatively honestly.
"Keep it for myself." It should not be a surprising answer from one whose life was tainted with avarice. Not greed for riches, no...but for things far more priceless. "I wonder whether I should be more guarded in my reply, for fear of appearing lesser in your view?" He mused, as though he really cared how he appeared to this amiable stranger.

Obi-Wan continued leading the way, Earthian flashlight beam illuminating their path. When they arrived at the Sun Room door, he couldn't help but frown. It was closed, though a turn of the handle indicated that it wasn't locked. Still, he was hesitant in just pushing his way through.
There was a void in the Force beyond those walls, and other prisoners as well.
Grimacing, he turned towards Qui-Gon. "It's dark enough to where no one will notice us right away, but I can understand if you have reservations about just plowing through. We could try to find a different route, but I doubt it will be any safer than going through here."
There was, of course, the issue of the prisoners who were likely in danger. But Obi-Wan felt they weren't in any position to help anyone when they weren't even properly armed, as unfortunate as that was. He didn't like thinking about it, but there was no use in denying the truth.

With the non-presence of the Force roiling around inside the room, moving, it was hard to tell how many other prisoners were in there. While Qui-Gon wanted to help them, he couldn't help but admit that right now he had almost no ability to do so. Not without his lightsaber. And not without his old connection to the Force back.
"We'll have to risk it," Qui-Gon said quietly, frowning. "Let's go."

Keigo wasn't far behind Logan, but he kept a longer distance between the two of them, if just to give the man more space. He seemed to be in deep concentration about their surroundings and.. Keigo wasn't going to be the dumbass that distracted such an intimidating man from his work. .. At least not now. He was too scared now. Maybe if he wasn't scared, he'd still be blabbing on and on about nothing.
He watched as Logan crept forward, blinking as he started to lose sight of him. Shit! Keigo thought frantically, picking up the pace. He didn't want to lose him!

The same hallway he'd already gone through twice this night. How mundane it was getting, he mused. However, he realized, it wasn't as empty as it had been previously. In fact, it seemed as if there were some patients fighting with a monster that he was fairly certain hadn't been there before.
Being in no mood to help anyone, let alone in a fight, Jack did his best to creep by unnoticed and disappear around the corner, moving quickly towards the rec field.

Gluttony wandered down another hallway. More people were fighting something else. There were a lot of people fighting other things. The people looked tasty, and so did the creatures. He was really hungry. But no, he couldn't think about the tasty people and the tasty monsters (or the tasty people covered in the blood of the tasty monsters...or...no, he couldn't think about that). He had to find Lust. Lust might need him. Lust wasn't dead. People as smart and intelligent and beautiful as Lust lived forever.
There was a large door that seemed unlocked. He could go through there. Maybe Lust was there!

Stepping back into the hallway, Ami leaned against a wall, breathing deeply and trying not to think about what had happened back in that room. Looking down at her hands, she noticed them glistening in the darkness. Her hands and wrists were covered in blood which was rapidly drying. Oh well, my clothes are already ripped anyway, she thought as she scrubbed her hands against her pants, trying to remove it.
She tried to block out the image of the girl's head...no, it wasn't a girl. She had felt that there was something wrong with the...thing...in that room. It wasn't really human. A slight shudder ran through her body. The sooner I find a way out of here and free all these people, the better.
Straightening up, Ami heard yells and scuffles coming from up the corridor. Another attack! The thought was fleetingly as she took off, sprinting up the corridor to see if there was anything she could do.

"And greedy vultures?" he asked while holding the door open. "Do you mean the nurses?"
With all this vague knowledge about this place, Kougaiji couldn't quite understand what was going on but felt compelled to assure John further about his silence about the key matter. "Don't worry, my lips are sealed."

"By 'greedy vultures', I mean other 'patients'. I'm sorry to break your heart, but not everyone here is as nice and wonderful as yours truly."
He scratched his chin. "You know, though, if you wanna help me out, keep an eye out for locked doors. You never know when we might get lucky."
