Night 71: M-B Block Hallway

[From here.]

It had almost been a week since he'd come to this place. It felt a lot longer than that. He'd lost count of the number of times he'd passed through this hall, to the point that he almost felt like he didn't need his flashlight to navigate his way in the dark. Not that he had any intention of turning his flashlight off. His heart still thudded as he searched the darker corners for any sign of a monster's presence.

Nothing jumped out, though - at least not in this hall. Pressing forward, he moved on.

It didn't take long for Sechs to appear, much to Zero's mild relief. Seeing that confident smirk and the axe in the other's hand were also relieving somehow; it let him know that both of them were equally serious and prepared for this mission.

...Not that Zero had any reason to doubt that, nor was there any reason to be too impatient. Yet he was anyway. Hmm. Perhaps he was just a little too eager to go on this mission and fight whatever enemies they might face in the process...but being too eager wasn't necessarily a good thing. He'd have to watch himself.

In any case, he greeted the other android with a firm nod of his head, still looking as stoic as ever. "Always ready," he replied, and was already turning to the exit door before waiting for Sechs to say anything further. (But at least he had enough restraint to not actually head out the door until his ally started to follow.)

Just as Zero turned away to exit, Sechs couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief. So far Zero didn't seem to notice the growing pain which threatened to collapse Sechs' smirk. The cold in his back was getting steadily worse as well, but Sechs couldn't let that stop him. He'd been able to push through every night for the past couple of weeks with this unnatural ailment, but that didn't mean that his energy to deal with it remained unaffected after all this time...

Raising his flashlight up, Sechs followed Zero closely as they stepped through the door and out into the first stretch of hallways before them. At this point Sechs was so familiar with such a setting that he was sick of it. These halls had become irritating nuisances when it came to getting to places quickly. Interruptions of any kind could slow them down there.

"C'mon, Aigis is gonna be waiting for us by the Sun Room," Sechs growled, and with that he took off down the hall.
