Day 70: Crossroad's Bar and Casino (Afternoon)
His time in the bar had gone far more smoothly than the last after Kurogane had agreed to the immediate demand that, if he wanted to stay, he couldn't drink straight from the bottle this time. That had been the only reason he'd been forced out during the last trip, and that had been without the added bother of Fai making him angry. Now that his only worry was what might happen after the sun went down, the ninja hadn't given the man so much as a second thought once they'd split off of the buses. Fai knew where he could find him, so long as he'd been listening during that part, and Kurogane didn't care either way if he appeared or not.
All he really cared for was that he was able to drink without the possibility of any children coming around to bother him. He was pretty sure Tsubaki was too young to enter this place, and that she was the oldest of the kids he knew.
Still, he did keep glancing at the door on the chance that he would see someone he knew - welcome or not - as he drank. He was ever ready for the unexpected.

Walking in it wasn't hard to spot Kurogane. Of course Fai knew he could find him no matter where he was if he really set his mind to it. He lifted his hand and waved in a rather enthusiastic fashion.
"Kuro-nii, I'm here!" There was a good likelihood that everyone in the bar now knew Fai was there.

Kurogane made a face at the bartender's comment, then sighed, knowing the chances of Fai getting removed this time were much higher now. The ninja had only been removed because of how he'd wanted to drink, not for causing any disturbances. Fai meanwhile - and this Fai...
"Hey," he called, far more calmly than Fai's own greeting, "Act like that and they'll make you leave."
Behind the bar, the bartender gave a nod, hoping that both men understood. Honestly, he could have kicked both out on principle, but business was business, even if it came from a nut house. He could see the orderlies already watching form the door and knew they'd handle it if anything else came up.

He placed one of the walkie talkie toys on the counter in front of the ninja. "I got you a present. She let me take a red one for you, and I picked a blue one for me." Fai held up his own proudly before tucking it away.
"I don't really know if they will work but if they do then they might come in handy."

When Fai put something on the counter, Kurogane wasn't sure what it was at first. The bright red and small size made it look like a toy, but otherwise it was similar to the black radios they'd been given. "Who's she?" he asked, picking the thing up and finding how light it was.

Fai ordered just a water and leaned on the counter as he looked over at Kurogane. "Maybe now we don't have to worry about passing each other if one heads to the other's room."

That revelation left Kurogane skeptical. Someone handing out devices was strange enough, and if they worked was in question. For all they knew, this woman could have just been treating them like the nurses did - humoring the patients of a institution. There was a small chance she was trying to help, but Kurogane couldn't put much faith in that just yet.
Clicking the switch, Kurogane turned the red box over, studying it. "Did this woman tell you how to work these?" If they worked.

Fai lifted his up again and pointed to the button after turning it on. He had made sure to have the Lady explain to him how it worked since he certainly had never used one of these before and he figured Kurogane hadn't either.
"Push that button when you talk.." Fai lifted the box to his lips to show him, "And then you just talk into it and the other person hears you."

There was no sound from the blue item in Fai's hand, nor did the box Kurogane held feel like it was working. He remembered once when he'd seen someone taking a radio apart in the clinic and checked the toy for something similar. At the base he found the little latch and pulled a piece off, knowing the problem. "Batteries," he muttered. That's why these didn't work.

"So it needs something else in order to work...I wonder if we have some back at the institute or if it is something we will have to get here."
Fai wasn't sure if he had what he needed in the room. Honestly he hadn't done much rummaging around in the meager belongings inside the mental hospital cell.
