Anise still couldn't believe she'd slept through most of the day. She'd barely had any time to eat during the fourth shift, after getting into her conversation with that guy in the Sun Room. It wasn't until dinner that she finally had time to sit down and eat a meal.

The evening announcements started just as Anise was polishing off her plate, and she realized she wasn't prepared at all. She shot up from the desk and scrambled to change into her Fon Master Guardian uniform, then hastily took stock of her nighttime equipment. Once she had everything in hand, she ran out the door and down the hall. She hoped the others weren't already waiting.
