Night 68: M51-M60 Hallway

Al knew he probably should be paying more attention to his surroundings, but he was eager to meet up with his new friend. Besides, the quicker this chore was done the faster he could go and find where the nurses had taken his brother to. Only being allowed to talk with him when they'd first found each other was frustrating, and he had plenty that he needed to let Ed know about. Plus, the quicker he found him, the less likely it was his brother would wind up neck-deep in trouble.

He knocked lightly on the door to M58, shifting anxiously from foot to foot. "Sasuke? It's me, Alphonse. Are you there?"

"I'll come by every night. You're not far."

Given that Landel wasn't doing anything to the doors or the usually quiet patient blocks, Kurogane was confident enough that he could reach the magician's room every night. Once it had been his first stop, and on a nightly basis, but that room had been in another block. For the time it took and the distance covered, there had never been a guarantee that Kurogane would reach that room or, if he did, find the magician still there.

Coming here though, he could manage. As long as Fai didn't change rooms.

Fai had no intention of leaving rooms. Doing so was just asking to get lost while he was still new at the institute.

"Kuro-pon is such a worrier~" But Fai was pleased. He had gotten used to the ninja's presence as an every day thing. He would never admit that most likely because doing so would mean he had finally agreed to this attachment that had been originally forced upon him.

"I'll be sure to wait for you."

"Shut up."

He was accustomed to being concerned by now, more than he had ever wanted to be, and it was all because of the man behind him. However different this Fai was, until Kurogane could make himself get over that concern and see that Fai could actually take care of himself, he would continue to be this way.

Fai looked off down the hall, considering his next move. He knew the institute was dangerous..that most people stayed in pairs or groups when they went out. He had seen evidence of this just by staying near his room and his adventures the night before. He was torn as to how to proceed but he knew he should explore and at least try and get his bearings for this new home.

Finally looking back at Kurogane, his smile was steady even despite the uncertain feelings inside. "Be safe as you head back to your room. Ah! Did you ever tell me where your room was?"

"Sixty-seven," he said, nodding over, "It's on the other side of this wall. I haven't moved since I've been here, but I know others that have."

Not even Tsubaki had remained in the same room despite having been there for many weeks. He didn't know why he'd stayed in the same one, but it had made travel easier for familiarity.

"Why do they move? By choice or because this place makes them?" Fai could understand if people found friends on this world and wanted to be in the same room. But if it wasn't their choice who they were able to stay with then having to change rooms could be a constant annoyance.
