Night 68: M51-M60 Hallway

Al knew he probably should be paying more attention to his surroundings, but he was eager to meet up with his new friend. Besides, the quicker this chore was done the faster he could go and find where the nurses had taken his brother to. Only being allowed to talk with him when they'd first found each other was frustrating, and he had plenty that he needed to let Ed know about. Plus, the quicker he found him, the less likely it was his brother would wind up neck-deep in trouble.

He knocked lightly on the door to M58, shifting anxiously from foot to foot. "Sasuke? It's me, Alphonse. Are you there?"

"All right. So that's your plan for tonight? Wanna swing by the kitchen first?" Ed asked, antsy to finally get moving and accomplish something tonight.

Al sighed. "You're still hungry, huh?"

Ed nodded, faintly sheepishly. "Eating Lust's lunch along with mine helped, but I did miss breakfast."

He shook his head. "Well, no helping that. We can try and get in there too, but I want to see what I can make with this first." Moving to the floor and opening the pillowcase again, he sorted out the materials and looked it over. "Should be enough for a short blade, at least."

Ed looked at it and nodded. "Looks like it. And if we need to, we can find more raw material somewhere to make it longer."

He nodded, then clapped and put his hands over the pile of metal.

The transmutation took more energy and focus, as he'd been warned, but once it was done he didn't feel exhausted at least. Now he had a blade of about two feet in length, relatively thin and straight with a sturdy knuckle guard. Al picked it up, testing it weight, then nodded. "This should do for now."

"So, want to lead the way, since you're the one that actually got to find out where the cafeteria and therefore the kitchen are?" Ed asked as he moved to the door.

"I kind of have to, don't I?" Al grinned as he stood again and headed to the door. "Since you had to go and make trouble and miss your breakfast."

"Oh shut up," Ed grumbled. "I had to get to you."

"I know, but you still brought it on yourself, technically," he said with a grin, leading the way back down the hall.
