Nightshift 67: Pantry (Second Floor)
[from here]
He knew to expect absolutely anything while moving - monsters, announcements, hell, he wouldn't have been surprised if the floor fell from under them at some point - but there were some things he did know. The feeling of being jumped was one of those. When the sensation struck at him, pulling him through to wherever it would, the ninja knew it immediately and swore - the word echoing through the new and still completely dark location the moment he landed.
He stumbled forward from the rush, grasping for something and finding his hand hitting metal. Taking hold, it moved slightly, but he kept his balance from it and looked back to see if the magician had been forced along. The last time he'd been jumped through a door, everyone with him had gone, but there had been other times where just he'd been taken.
"You all right?" he asked, firm but hushed as his eyes tried adjusting to the darkness.

It took a second for his body to relax as he let those words sink in. He looked up at Kurogane, unable to make out his features in the dark and nodded. "Yes..but what just happened?"

They'd been jumped together which was fine enough. That didn't make it fine though. He'd already felt ill from whatever Landel had done to him and the nausea had only worsened from the trip. Worse still was what Kurogane had realized by the transport itself. Try not to get lost echoed back and would have earned another swear had Fai not needed to know the details.
"It's... like the manjuu does. Some kind of traveling between places," he explained, keeping his voice hushed. Most of his jumps hadn't landed him in the best situations, and being in a darker place than where they'd been before didn't help to alleviate any concerns. "That's what he meant by not getting lost," snorting, Kurogane released his hold of whatever metal he'd grasped and put his back to Fai again, "Check the door. See if we can't go back."
There was no point in staying if they could get back out, and if it was only doors that caused this, he knew how to avoid them to make it back to the rooms.

"So instead of jumping worlds, we are just jumping rooms? What is the point of that?" It seemed like an odd game to play but apparently this Landel had some strange hobbies anyway. "Why do I have to do this, Kuro-niiii..what if something jumps out at me." Fai was whining but he was doing it in a hushed whisper. Kurogane's threats seemed to have gotten through at least a little.
Reaching out, Fai took a hold of the door handle and gave it a tug.

When he heard Fai take the door handle and push it back open, Kurogane turned immediately, ready for either the next room over, whatever it might be, or another jump.
