Nightshift 67: Stairwell by Waiting Room/Lobby 1
[from here]
Once across the hallway, Kurogane took them to the closest stairwell. Usually he would take this route to reach the upper level if he didn't have anyone else tagging along, while the stairwell further down would be used if he'd had to go by one of the other rooms. The girls' rooms were on that side, and the magician's had been in the back. Until he got a clear number from this one, he couldn't know if he'd need to go by M99 any more.
"There is another set of stairs further down," he explained as they went. If the magician was going to be here for some time, he needed to know how to get around and start learning the layout quickly. He'd have his own understanding eventually, but for now Kurogane was the best map the man could have. "Either will get you to the second floor. There's a third floor, but no one knows how to get to it."

"Can't we write this all down? Maybe make a fun looking map to carry! I'll never remember all of this in the morning." But Fai would continue to listen despite his complaints. He had to. As much as he wasn't sure he would remember it, he had to try. He needed to be able to find his way back to Kurogane as well as around this place. He knew this and knew his life would probably depend upon it. But so much seriousness was more then the vampire could handle.

He knew full well that Fai was only whining, or making an attempt to tease. Either way, Kurogane didn't care for it. He hadn't had to deal with being teased since Rukia had been there, and she'd vanished long before the magician. Getting a rise out of him now would take not only more than whining, but a lot more time as well.
"You're going to attract something if all you're going to do is complain."
