Night 67: Main Hallway, 1-West
[from here --and waiting for Ryusei!]
There still wasn't a lot of people in the halls, and it was starting to make him nervous. Maybe he should try to find someone to hang out with tonight. Snow and Celty had insisted on how Mikado shouldn't be alone at night--it wouldn't hurt to take their advice. But it would be strange to just go up to someone and ask to walk around with them.
...Wouldn't it?
He made a face, and paused in the hall, looking around. He was more aware of the bandages covering his eye in the dim, and even wearing his own clothes didn't negate that uncomfortability. He was suddenly starting to think he should have just stayed inside.

It was well into nightshift, and Tsubaki still didn't feel any different. No discomfort, no pain... and no rashes or anything of the sort. Did she dare to hope? Would she be well enough to pull this off?
If good fortune was on her side, maybe there was room for hope. She had to see this possibility through; it was a duty she'd set herself, just as elsewhere in the building Kratos would be ready to tend to Sora if need be. Thinking about her friend and what had become of him because of their inability to find a cure just made her more determined to get to the Greenhouse and back.
She owed it to Sora--they all did. And to people like Leanne, too, who were depending on a solution.
Now, it was just a matter of waiting for Leanne and her friend to arrive in the main hall, and then they could go! If the other girl didn't appear soon, Tsubaki was prepared to head to her room if she had to. Leanne had been well enough to put up notes during the day, but that could've changed come nightfall.

This was it, the meeting place they'd agreed on. Leanne resisted the urge to dash down the hallway, keeping her steps measured and careful instead. She couldn't afford to let her guard down yet, not when she hadn't even met with Tsubaki yet. They had a lot of ground to cover and she didn't intend to drag her friend down, after all. At least... Not anymore than her sickness was dragging the both of them down already.
She lifted her flashlight slightly, her eyes following the path the beam cut straight to just the person she'd been looking for. "Tsubaki," she called out, even as she rushed forward, hoping her voice no louder than was absolutely necessary. "There you are!"
Shhh, I saw nothing!
Seeing Leanne emerge from the gloom kept the worst of her thoughts at bay, to say the least. Leanne was still safe! Nothing had happened to her! That meant there was still time...
Tsubaki smiled, heartened by the prospect that one friend was going all right. But as Leanne drew closer, her smile faded into an expression of uncertainty. "You're by yourself?"
OH MY GOD, this should not have taken so long
She shook her head, shooting Tsubaki what she hoped wasn't too awkward of a smile. "No, I'm by myself tonight, sorry! My friend was gonna check out the greenhouse with some other people." With a shrug of her shoulders, she continued, "He said he'd check for me, but... I just couldn't sit still, huh?"
We're all slow here, there's no shame. :'D
"I see, that's a relief you made it by yourself. I was going to come looking for you if no one came," she said, offering her own smile. Leanne leaving her room alone carried a certain amount of risk, but at the moment it was a lesser evil "If more than one group is going, that makes our chances better! If he gets there before us and finds what we're looking for, you might not have to wait long. Um..."
She paused, unsure how to continue. Something needed to be said before they headed off, but how could you say you thought you might be a threat without utterly distressing the other person? Tsubaki felt guilty for even being there and potentially putting Leanne in harm's way, but if she did have a bad reaction to the drugs, she could get away from the other girl before something happened... Hopefully.
"I need to tell you something before we go..." Absently, she put a hand on her arm where the nurse had put the needle in. "At dinner, my nurse, she gave me some kind of injection. I don't know what it was or what it might do... but you should know, in case. I feel fine right now! But I haven't heard the best things about it when it's happened. I won't slow us down, I promise."
I'm so glad... :'D
"You," she began, stopped, and took a deep breath. "You're really feeling okay? You're not feeling sick or anything? If you start feeling that way, you'll tell me, right?"
All too aware of how hypocritical it was, of how she herself hated to let anyone worry about her health, Leanne still couldn't help but ask, to assure herself she'd know if anything changed.

In their situation, all signs said the injections were harmful, and that they should at least be making her ill. What did it mean, that she felt fine? Something good? Something bad? Was she just too blinded by what had happened to Sora and Rapunzel to notice a change happening in her own body?
But despite all the unanswered questions, she wouldn't be scared. And she wouldn't let Leanne be scared for her if she was able.
"Yes! I feel the same as always!" Tsubaki nodded. "I don't want anything to go wrong on my account, so I'll keep a close eye on it. I'll let you know."
