Night 64: Main Hallway, 1-West

[From here.]

Well, that had been painless, but the good time he'd made also meant that he was the first to arrive. Harvey leaned himself up against the wall, swinging his metal pipe around in his hand as he kept an eye out for Scott or Sangamon.

He had to admit, it was strange that their group had been cut down so considerably. He didn't even know if Depth Charge was still around, but it didn't matter to him too much either way, so he hadn't put much thought into it. He figured that one of the others would mention it when they showed up, if they even knew themselves.

While he waited, Harvey grabbed the bone bracelet out of his pocket and started to spin it around in his hand. The skeleton hadn't been too clear about how this worked, but there was an obvious answer about what to do with it, not that he was going to attempt anything until the others had shown up.

Having Claude's support when it came to a missing friend was appreciated, of course, and Guy wasn't in such a rush that he didn't give him a smile in order to make that clear. Despite his own problems, though, the illness that his friends were suffering from was much more pressing, and so he moved along with Claude, relieved when they came across Anise almost immediately upon reaching the main hall.

She had managed to make her way out here, and while she looked a little worse for the wear, that would hopefully be fixed before long. Not that Guy was expecting them to find a cure that worked instantly, but any step in that direction was good in his book.

Guy didn't think there was any time to waste, and so while Claude offered more run of the mill questions, he cut to the chase. "You heard the announcement, right? Claude's having symptoms too, so the three of us will need to get to the medical wing as soon as we can." He wasn't that familiar with it, but he was sure the three of them could figure this out. They'd gotten through the basement and a decent part of the caverns together, so this seemed like a cake walk in comparison.

After what felt like forever (but was actually closer to a couple minutes), Anise's friends emerged from the doorway, and the girl hurried over to meet them. Claude's greeting gave her pause, however - he already knew she was sick? There was only one way he could know. She shot Guy a quick frown for that.

But her friend was quick to explain, and Anise's attention was quickly directed to something else: the large patch of discolored skin on Claude's arm. "N-no way! You too, Claude?"

On the one hand, it meant Anise wasn't inconveniencing anyone by wanting them to go to the X-ray Room. She wasn't the only one who needed to go. But seeing a close friend with the same symptoms made her stomach churn. With two of them ill, the chances of one of them changing soon were higher. This was bad.

The initial shock subsided a bit, and Anise gave a sober nod. "... Yeah. Let's hurry!"

As much as Claude hated making a big deal out of his symptoms, he knew he couldn't sweep it under the rug around Anise forever. Thankfully, they didn't dwell on it for long, and instead started focusing on ways to correct the situation.

It sounded like they were all on board with the med wing idea, although Claude had some reservations. After all, the last time all three of them went traipsing after some kind of vague clue, all they did was spring a trap, and walked away with nothing special to show for their troubles. That wasn't even taking the basement disaster into account. Who was to say this wasn't some kind of weird set-up, too?

Of course, he wasn't in any position to ignore the automated announcement, and he realized that. He and Anise were sick, and there was no telling what would happen to them if they didn't at least try to find a cure. If they were lucky, they could even help other patients who were suffering from the same problem.

"The medical wing is this way, right?" he asked as he nodded toward his left.

While Anise seemed upset with him for telling Claude about her situation, that didn't last long once she realized the full scope of what was going on. Now that everyone was up to speed on who was sick and who wasn't, there truly wasn't any time to waste.

None of them had been to the medical wing before, but they all had an idea of where it was located -- it would have been impossible not to notice the once blocked off area during all their time here.

"Right," Guy confirmed when Claude asked the question, and seeing how he was the healthiest one in their group by far, he decided to take the lead. "Straight down the hall." He had no idea where the room they were looking for would be once they got into the medical wing itself, but they would have to deal with that once they arrived.
