Day 63: Bus 3 (Evening)

Sora had to admit, that soup had definitely hit the spot even if he'd had to force the first few bites down. His stomach was full and warm and while the fever was definitely still there, it felt more manageable now that he had some fuel in his system. It was too bad he couldn't carry a water bottle around or something, since that would have also been a help with cooling him down.

Then again, the wind seemed to be doing a fine job of that on its own. A nurse made sure to walk with him as they moved back toward the buses, doing her best to shield him from the wind with her body. It was something that Sora actually appreciated; she didn't have to do that, after all, and with how weak he felt right now fighting the wind was pretty tough.

Still, they made it back safe and sound, and Sora boarded the bus, realizing at a delay that he hadn't even bought anything on the trip. It was a waste, but he wasn't going to dwell on it too much. He already had enough on his mind as it was. Like the fact that he hadn't seen Riku and Kairi all day and couldn't have told them about his illness even if he wanted to. He'd at least had the chance to make plans with Tsubaki, but still, where were his friends? If there was a time when they should have been around, it was now.

Sora leaned against the window, keeping an eye on the other patients that were approaching. He wiped his hand over his forehead and found that it was still covered with a thin sheen of sweat. Not much he could do about that unless he found some medicine or Dr. Facilier worked out a cure. One step at a time, right? He could beat this.

[For Albedo and Nigredo.]

For a moment, Loki thought the man was speaking directly to him, which would have been shocking and interesting, but no... he was reacting to the fictional person further up in the bus. Loki allowed himself a laugh at that. "Packing... heat. I'm not really familiar with that." He shrugged. "But I assume something unpleasant will happen to him. There's certainly the capacity for all manner of interesting punishment in our current situation."

He flipped the book back open again, eyeing the circuit diagram he'd been looking at. Once he'd accustomed himself to the symbols being used, it made simple sense, what was happening with the electricity.

"It means carrying a hidden weapon, where I come from." Badd was attempting to be mildly helpful, if only to avoid annoying cultural confusion later down the line. "Landel always has some little game up his sleeve. All this punk's gonna do is get bumped up the sleep study roster." Which wasn't a fate he'd wish on more than a handful of people, but Badd wasn't going to stick his neck out for this particular one.

He huffed and bit into his hamburger, trying to ignore the distractions. There would be enough irritation to deal with tonight, Niikura always knew how to get under his skin.

"Ah, I understand. Interesting expression." He nodded. "Remind me which particular torture the sleep study is?" It all sounded terribly unpleasant, but in particular ways. "Though I'd gotten the impression that causing this sort of trouble will just get him... injected with drugs."

Which could be really funny to watch, he thought. And useful besides, since he hadn't actually seen it happen yet.

Loki gave Badd's hamburger a curious glance before he turned his attention back to the book. He wondered if he should have brought a bagged dinner himself, but he'd been under the impression that they'd be fed back at the prison. And he didn't need nearly as much food as he was used to, probably because he couldn't use magic.

"The one where they strap you to a chair and do horrible things to you. I think Special Counseling is what they call the one with the brainwashing." Badd took a long, unamused slurp from his soda. To heck with that whole 'high amounts of sugar is bad for old people' nonsense, being at Landel's was also bad for old people but he didn't see anyone getting on his case for that either.

Loki nodded. "Well, that sounds quite awful either way."

Really, given the choice between two terrible things, he would personally opt for the brainwashing every time. If nothing else, he wouldn't feel all that terrible about anyone who happened across him being turned into something amusing or getting stabbed.

Another sideways glance. "What is that you're drinking?"

"Hm?" Badd looked at his drink. The poor backwards bastard, if he didn't know what good wholesome junk food was.

"It's a soda. It's...sugar and carbonated water and some flavor stuff all mixed together." He gave a long, decadent slurp. "It's horrible for you, never try it."

Knowing what it was now, Loki watched Badd drink more of the soda with a mix of curiosity and horror. "That sounds... quite disgusting. I'll be sure to avoid it, yes."

He shook his head. He wasn't particularly enamored of sweets or food in general, and he'd had more than enough sweet things before falling off the Bifrost.
