Nightshift 24: Hallway outside entry room
The giggling and the stinging scent of pepper faded as Gin and Jack changed their route to the second set of stairs near the doctors offices. It was Gin's first time leading, usually Jack took that job, letting him take up the reasonably safer rear guard. He kept his flashlight trained on the path ahead of them, his knife in the other hand. With any luck, they'd be able to move as quickly through the halls as they had their first night.

And actually, if his sense of direction served him right, this was getting them closer to where they wanted to go anyway, so at least it wasn't wasted effort.

Yohji followed Cliff along the dark corridors towards where the Doctor's offices were. He'd only been along here once, and that was in daylight with nurses leading and that time he hadn't exactly seen the need to memories the route so he'd been less attentive than he should have been.
"What do you make of the lovers spat betweeon those two?" he asked quietly, gesturing towards one of the intercom boxes on the wall. He wouldn't trust either of them as far as he could throw them, but it was more worrying if they'd been dragged into a chest beating match between the two of them.

"I think if they keep on like that things are gonna get bad pretty fast." That much was obvious. The only question was how bad and how fast. "You know how messy breakups can be."
He glanced around for monsters - there was a lot of noise coming from the sun room but he kept moving past it. Distractions later. "Something happened. To hell if I know what."

Kuja kept his flashlight in front of him, ears perked as his eyes scanned through the darkness. From what he could see, he was close to the location called the 'Sun Room'. Even though his sense of direction wasn't what it should be, the genome had a very good memory. He could pick up noises coming from behind the doors, the sounds of battle.
But now was not the time to assume the center stage. After all, he was in no position to gain the spotlight. Quickly passing the double doors, the sorcerer proceeded down the dark hallway.

It took a moment for Sasuke to adjust to dark silence after the people-filled (and periodically flashlight-lit) hallway outside the patient quarters, but there didn't seem to be many others around to take advantage of the pause.
Sunroom on his left, another room on his right -- start exploring here, or go further and work back?
Well, first things first: Sasuke glanced at Sai, waiting to see whether the other nin was planning to follow him or go off to find Naruto.

And... at least Sasuke seemed to remember who he was. Perhaps the issue with Naruto was something best left for a time when they could sit and discuss it.
"I'll come with you," he said shortly. "For now."

When shinigami didn't want to be noticed, they generally weren't. The 5th might not have been as specialized as the 2nd, but there was a certain amount of stealth learned purely as a survival technique as the years of service moved on. Momo was no different, silent and unseen save the faint light hanging from her waist, as she moved down the hall, hugging the left wall.
Alert for creatures, none were seen, though she could still faintly feel that reiatsu she has earlier. Yet, she was no closer to identifying it as before leaving her once again with just a suspicion. It was times like this where she wished she'd been more alert when around both Aizen-sama and Ichimaru-taichou.
Stopping at the first door on the right, Momo looked back to check on Integra's pogress and wait to see if this door held the knight's fancy. She watched Alucard for a moment before returning ehr attention to the hall. The shinigami was starting to feel bad for the vampire and the way he was being treated.

As they exited the cellblock there were two choices as to where to proceed next. A hall went off to their left, while another continued straight ahead with a nearby door. Seeing the girl already ahead and waiting respectfully -like a proper soldier should- for her command, the knight only nodded towards the door on the right. “See if it’s unlocked then."

Once out of the Sun Room, Hokuto got Nel propped up against a wall to look at her--there was no way they were going far without Amaterasu at least. "Let me see your legs," she said, not wanting to waste time when Nel was actively bleeding. She really wished she knew healing spells, but her knowledge of first aid would have to do. Of course, without any bandages...
Not sure what else to do, she knelt down and tried to rip at the leg of her own pants; the entire outfit was hideously ugly anyway. It was a temporary measure at best, but it would have to do until... she didn't know when. Hopefully they'd get somewhere safe and then they could explain a few things to her!

"...I don't know if I should use Healing. I'm going to save it for the goddess.. she needs it more than I do, I bet.." she whispered as she slid her pants down around her knees. Thankfully she wasn't afraid to show a little leg - her military uniform showed enough leg to where Nel simply didn't care.
The injured runes glistened dark red in the light of the flashlight. It looked as if they'd just been freshly tattooed, even though they'd been there for years. The skin looked slightly raised, adding to the effect.

There were two more girls out here, talking softly and tending each others' wounds... he remembered them dashing in with the howling woman earlier. He hoped the others in there would escape. But even if they didn't, what could he do? True, he was better armed now--if he could get an arm free. And leaping and trying to bludgeon the demon hadn't worked so hot last time--he didn't have any Stars made up to shoot yet, even with his little rubber band at a short distance.
This isn't running away. This is The Great Captain Usopp's Tactical Retreat. Right.
"It's not far to my room," Usopp whispered to Yuber, not wanting to disturb the women's conversation. "Then I can start to make some weapons."
Although he didn't know what he could do against something like that thing in the courtyard--even if he had twenty bags of flour.

The idle chatter of the females outside was hardly of any importance to the knight as he walked out into the hallway. Gaze roaming down either side of the long corridor, Yuber’s attention eventually found itself back onto Usopp as his ally whispered to him.
He didn’t bother to reply in hushed tones, and instead answered in his usual smooth voice. “Then lead the way. Once you’ve properly equipped yourself, we’ll head back out.” Gesturing back towards the male dormitories, the black knight waited for his companion to move. He knew not where Usopp’s quarters were stationed, which left him with no option but to remain following his ally.
At least once Usopp was properly prepared; he’d be able to properly gauge just what remained of his own abilities. Perhaps it was something that could be tested during the wait in Usopp’s quarters?

HK turned the corner from the cell blocks and continued on. The area up ahead lead to the dining hall and sun room, but after that...
"Statement: After we pass these doors," he pointed towards the Sun Room, "I have no knowledge of the compound's layout." Everything else he knew perfectly. Even if he was a meatbag now, he still had near-flawless spatial recall of the areas he had seen. Just one more advantage to having a droid mind.

"Just go down the first hallway you come across, we can just check out everything we come across, if we have too." This could turn into something that would take several nights to finish.

Yazoo paused in the middle of the hallway as he considered where to go next. The three of them could stick to familiar territory and head back to the sun room, cafeteria, and kitchen, but he wanted to do something different. However, that probably wasn't a very bright idea. He still wasn’t very adept with his daggers and both of his brothers were injured.
So much for a fun night.
He tried to hide a pout as he turned and looked back at the first waiting room, idly twirling his weapons in his hands as he waited for Kadaj and Sephiroth to catch up.

Guilt was certainly a part of it too, but that was more about what was said about Mother than about Sephiroth's stupid hair. He deserved to get those bangs burned off, damn it.
Resisting the urge to make a face at him (maybe he could do it when his back was turned?), Kadaj ignored the hair questions and followed Yazoo back to the hall, saying with rare sincerity, "In that case, we apologize for interrupting your conversation with Mother. What did she have to say? Any messages for us? How is she?" The barrage of questions would likely continue until Kadaj had heard what he wanted. Poor Sephiroth.

Roy continued on, maneuvering around the other patients in the hall. He could only hope that whoever was around didn't recognize him. He didn't need lots of people seeing him in this state. Granted, most would probably know why he looked so drained, as his weapon-making ability (and what it did to him) was practically common knowledge by now. There was really no reason to be ashamed of the fact that it took so much out of him, considering he was such a huge help to everyone at his own disadvantage.
Then again, did he have much choice? He wondered what people would do if he refused to make a weapon for them. They expected him to be compliant, and he really should have made more of an effort to take some sort of payment...
"Almost there," he said quietly, in case any of his accompaniment wasn't aware of the Entry Room's location.

"Have you tried getting out this way before, sir?" she asked quietly.

Taking the helm once more, he dropped the paper he'd been holding, looking back out into the hallway. Nothing on either side. And if he remember correctly, the entry room was directly to the right.
Motioning to the two men behind him, he headed for the entry room, looking through the open door right across from the entry room's entrance. He couldn't see anything, exactly, but he could certainly hear a good deal.

Kenren rushed past, ignoring the other people in the corridor and finally stopping outside the door to the Sun Room. He leaned close to it, hearing sounds of fighting inside. Yeah, that sounded bad. Even if Hakkai wasn't there, he could check out the kitchen again maybe. Find something to use as a weapon other than the vegetable peeler he had lovingly named 'Gojun'.

Susan was happy to get out of the entry room. She realized, as soon as she was out the door, that she had no idea where she was really was. Though, if necessary, she could find her way back to their room.
...like she'd do that willingly.
She kept her flashlight beam down, glancing at Max. "Which way?"
no subject
Sighing, she propped her hands on her hips and looked around. Spotting a stairwell off to their left, she grinned and glanced over at Susan. "Want to see what's upstairs? Maybe that's where these 'monsters' of theirs are hiding."
Max still wasn't so sure they existed, but it was something she wanted to see for herself.

His movements were sharp and swift around the corner as he left those other humans to tend to the injured. Though those events hadn’t been of any interest to him, the knight was beginning to feel an urge to create Chaos, even if he knew it wouldn’t be to the same degree as his usual capability. This had perhaps been the longest he’d gone through without causing some form of disorder one way or another, and he found that notion not sitting well inside. Who ever had summoned him needed to have a good explanation to hold him back to such a degree, and depending on what it was Yuber doubted that he’d be in any mood to listen.
There seemed to be little movement happening in the hallway as the odd human scurried on their way. Walking a few more steps, Yuber came to a stop before his attention drifted back behind him. “I find myself interested in searching the hallway beyond the Sun Room.” Yuber murmured, although he doubted that his companion would have too much of an objection.
no subject
Running around like this had gotten to grating on his own nerves... and although he didn't think of it in such terms, he was also overdue for Chaos, even in his own minor ways.

As dark as ever. Naruto padded down the familiar looking hallway, but he couldn't say that they didn't all look kind of the same. Especially at night. Squinting, he noticed a stairwell in the near distance.
"I've never been upstairs," the blond muttered to his Konoha-nin companion. "It's close to the Entry Room. Want to take a quick look?"
no subject
"I have been upstairs when my comrades and I went in search of Takaya, but we did not manage to get especially far. If we have time, let us see what we may find..."

Luke really had to hand it to Masaru; he had no idea how the other boy managed to drag him around for so long. Whatever they were fighting, he couldn't believe that the demon's attack was strong enough to actually knock him out. Ugh, and he was used to being strong. He had to be strong, he couldn't help anyone if he was weak.
But Luke did see that he managed to get some good friends, so perhaps that was all the strength he needed at the moment.
"Don't worry, I won't get knocked out again. I got you guys looking out for me, right? Heh he- ow!"
Stupid burns! He kept forgetting not to move his arms.
"Where are we going anyway?" It seemed Luke wasn't really paying attention and was just going with the flow, something he just realized.
