Nightshift 24: Recreational Field
[from here]
Something told Luke that he really shouldn't have followed Masaru. It was that little voice, the little voice that told you not to touch that button, or pull that lever, or use that Fonic Arte when Tear was trying to sing a Hymn and possibly interrupt and doom your party to a loss, but Luke was still uncertain of this place. He had but a few newfound friends to place his trust in, and Luke knew that he couldn't go alone.
That said, Masaru looked so confident in knowing where the Sun Room was that Luke didn't think he could possibly be wrong. So Luke followed, like a good sheep, to the door that Masaru was leading them too.
Opening it, Luke was expecting to see Larsa and That One Girl, awaiting them with news of what would happen next. Instead, he was greeted by darkness. His eyes eventually adjusted to the weak moonlight to show a field.
"Uh, Masaru? Are you sure this is the Sun Room...?" Luke asked, sounding very worried. Now that he thought about it, that shed in the corner seemed kind of... familiar...
... Because this was the same field that they were in just hours ago!
"MASARU! I THOUGHT YOU KNEW WHERE YOU WERE GOING!!!"

"I'm the idiot?! You're the one who said you knew where it was! You DID lie! How am I supposed to know that you're not just trying to cover your own ass again!"
Luke was definitely letting Masaru have it. Goddamnit it, Masaru was an inconsiderate and stupid cretin. Just like that stupid kid in the cowsuit that he had to chase all over the world!
Of course, being loud and obnoxious prevented Luke from noticing that the monster was getting ever so closer.

repeated idiocyignorance on the part of both boys, there would no longer be any opportunity for them to remain blissfully unaware of Indra's presence. Now that it was close, its mask slowly slid open, baring its fangs in eager anticipation of the meal to come. Then lightning began to strike. Indra raised its massive lance towards the heavens, and electricity began streaming from it. Lightning crackled from his demonic halo, gathered at the points of its lance... then he pointed Vajra, the Celestial Thunder, directly at the two boys. The sudden light cast every diabolic detail, from the razor-sharp teeth to the inhuman cuirass and the many bladed edges of its weaponry, into sharp and unmistakable relief.

"What the hell?! You have to trust your friends! That's what a man does! I should punch your lights out right now for--"
And that was when he finally noticed it. It was... kind of scary. Even Masaru had to admit that. But he'd seen a lot of things, so like hell he was going to let this bastard get the better of him! He did wonder how exactly he was going to defeat some monster without Agumon's help, but... He wasn't about to run away. Not when he was so fired up.
"Don't look down on me!" He yelled, running at the thing. He swung a fist at it with everything he had, just like he always did.

The monster that was looming over them, teeth bared and weapons drawn.
Or the fact that Masaru was trying to punch it.
Maybe he wouldn't exactly call Masaru a great friend, but the boy was right; they were friends, and as friends, Luke was very obligated to save Masaru from getting sliced apart by the monster. Before Masaru could get any closer and land his punch, Luke grabbed him by the collar. Even he could see that without any weapons, there was just no way they could take down that thing!
"MASARU, DON'T BE STUPID! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!" Luke screamed. Of course, there was no need for him to tell Masaru that, as Luke was already dragging himself and the other boy completely out of the field and down the hallway.
Damnit! If only he just had... something to kill the bastard with!

As soon as the bolt discharged the entire field would again be cast into the utter black of night. Indra didn't need sight. Not when its prey was being so obliging.
In the sudden quiet after all of the crackling, the footsteps of Indra suddenly sounded much more audible, much closer than before. And unlike its prey, Indra could see exactly where the door was, even without light...

Not one to let himself get pulled away, Masaru managed to wrench himself free of Luke's grip. He didn't care how hopeless it looked! If that asshole was going to get in their way, he was going down!
But shit, where'd that thing go? He'd been able to see just fine before, but now that the monster was no longer tying to be flashy, it left him blind as his eyes slowly readjusted. And before he could do anything, a flash of blue was sailing past him, and he was once again withoput sight. Lightning? But if he didn't attack him, then...
....
"LUKE!!"

"Masaru!" Luke could see that he wouldn't be able to pull Masaru away, so he rushed forward as well, intending to help Masaru take down the beast.
Well, that was the plan. But the beast fired off a bolt of lightning, blinding Luke. As he covered himself, he felt the crackling energy and cried out as it struck him, throwing the boy back against the building and knocking the wind out of him.
It took Luke several moments to regain himself, wincing at the burns that covered his arms.
"D-Damnit..."

Regardless, when Luke would glance up, he would see Indra standing tall against the sky, faint crackles of electricity still radiating from the massive demon. Then, all at once, he would see the great three-pronged lance of Vajra being thrust right at his shoulder in an attempt to pin him against the wall.

There was no way in hell he was letting that bastard do things like that to one of his friends, even if they weren't especially close or known each other for very long. Barely, but just barely, he was able to run in and pull Luke away.
"Come on, let's get out of here! This guy isn't worth the trouble!" he said, still pulling the other redhead away.
As a man, this was a disgrace, but what could he do? This wasn't the fight they were after, and they couldn't afford to get too beat up trying to take this guy down. They'd just have to get some revenge later.

But Masaru had reacted just in time and Luke was saved from being impaled by the creature's blade.
"Come on!" There wasn't any time to think, just react. That's what Tear told him, and Luke could finally see what she meant. He raced towards the door, keeping a hold on Masaru to prevent himself from falling.
It was his first night and he was already wounded! How did this happen?!

But there was always more prey in Landel's. Indra would never starve here.
