Day 61: Recreation Field (Shift 2)
Loki wasn't entirely thrilled about returning to the recreation field, though he supposed it would be nicer during the day. And without the annoying presence of Riku. Some fresh air would likely do him good; that was what Sif and Thor had always claimed right before they dragged him out of the library.
He wasn't entirely certain if that was a pleasant thought or not. It was still far too mixed up and painful.
He was allowed to go back to his room and pull out every bit of warm clothing he had, bundling up as much as he could. As he followed the nurse out into the field, he also wondered if this meant he would miss out on the greenhouse, since he'd arranged to meet Soma after lunch. That had priority, of course, but he did find plants interesting. At least it was good to know there were activities they were forced to participate in during the day that weren't as horrifically painful as, say, what the music room would indicate.
Good to know that as prisons went, it wasn't all just torture, torture, torture. Some variation was good for the mind.
He wandered along the crunchy, dead grass, for now steering clear of the few other patients. The air felt much better during the day, smelled much better to him as well as he sniffed at it. even if it was cold enough to make his nose hurt. It reminded him uncomfortably of Jotunheim, and...
But at least here, there was sunlight. He wasn't trapped in that dark place as sometimes was in his nightmares.
Loki stopped about halfway down the field, tilting his head back to take in the thin sunlight, his eyes slipping shut.
[Here, angel angel angel... :D Castiel!]

In the end, he didn't want to be coddled, but he also had no good way to refute what Lingormr was saying. It would be much better for him to sit down somewhere inside, and if he had someone who was that set on making that happen, then how could he argue?
More than that, he wasn't given a choice, as Lingormr circled around him and pulled him closer, giving him the opening to lean some of his weight against him. Castiel stared forward, not quite believing what was happening. They had only exchanged a handful of words, and yet he was being offered aid as if they'd known each other for much longer. The only people he'd ever leaned against like this was Sam and Dean, and only after they had spent some time together.
Maybe some humans just concerned themselves for others in this way, even when they had no reason to. Castiel couldn't think too much on it now. "All right," he forced out as he walked with the other man. While it was difficult to come up with his own words at the moment, both because of the pain and because of how strange the situation was to him, he could at least recognize that Lingormr's way of speaking was much like his own. It was sophisticated, the way someone from a past time would talk. And that fit the man's name, as well, so maybe...
A nurse approached the two of them, a curious look on her face. Castiel took the initiative in explaining. "We were wondering if we could be allowed back inside, due to the cold weather." It hadn't worked before, but perhaps if two of them were expressing this concern it would make more of an impression.

With practiced ease, he cut into the conversation before the nurse could even address Castiel's remark. "My friend is too kind," he said. "The cold has made me feel... unwell, I'm afraid. Not physically, but it..." For a moment he allowed a note of distress to cross his face, giving the woman a wide-eyed look. "I do not remember clearly, but something about being so cold." He shook his head. "I'm sorry to be such trouble, but I think I'd feel better if I could just sit inside, please. With my friend to keep me company, if you don't mind."
The nurse simply ate it up. There was a lot of cooing reassurances and him having to assure her in turn, that really yes, he just needed to warm up, and he'd be sure to speak to her immediately if he felt worse because he knew that they were just there to help and blah blah blah but gosh he was still good at this part of the game. Not that it had been so long since he last played it, and the nurse was far less canny than any of the ladies of the court.
Quickly enough, they were heading back inside.
