Night 59: West Wing, South Hall 1-A
[Coming from here.]
Daemon glided out into the wider corridor and paused for a moment, letting Renji join him, taking a moment to probe the shadows with his senses, looking for anything out of the norm. There was a tingle down his spine, the sensation of being watched, though he couldn't find its exact location, just the knowledge that it was there. He paused, debating on whether it was worth the effort of searching out, or leaving it to others while he and Renji kept heading for the stairs. He could see them from here, the door illuminated by his witchlight just off to his right.
He waited for Renji to join him, figuring the Shinigami would want a say.
"There are things moving in the shadows," he murmured to the redhead as the male moved out from the corridor behind him. Daemon didn't look at all disturbed by this statement, floating a few inches above the ground with a relaxed grace that was utterly foreign for their situation. Looking almost bored, he studied his black-tinted nails with a sleepy, hooded gaze.

Luke pretty much cut to the chase, not even asking for Claude's name before asking about the sword. Luckily, Claude didn't seem to take any offense. He'd interacted with Luke enough that he probably knew what to expect from him by now. Even after spending a few years out in the world, Luke still had moments where his manners slipped.
"Hey, I'm glad you found us," he greeted his friend. "This is Claude. You've actually met before, but... anyway." He glanced to the other blond and took note of the sword even as it was being handed over. "Where'd you get that one, anyway?" Guy hoped that it didn't have an uncomfortable answer, but he couldn't help but be curious.
"Anyway, Luke," he said, quickly looking back to the younger man, "it's not usually like this. With the sirens and everything, I mean. I don't know if you'd noticed, but it looks like we have access to fonons tonight after all, so make good use of it." Honestly, with this turn of events Guy really didn't need to worry too much about his friend. With a sword in hand, he'd be just fine.

When Guy introduced the blond beside him, the replica finally peeled his eyes off his new prize and looked at him. Claude seemed like a pleasant enough person, he even gave Luke one of his swords, so it was hard to hold anything against him. Even if he sort of wanted to. Luke tried for a polite smile and hoped it didn't look too forced.
"Nice to meet you... Again." There was no sarcasm in his words, but for now, the teen didn't want to delve any deeper. It wasn't Claude's fault; Luke was just uncomfortable with the fact this person knew him personally and he couldn't say the same. The change of topic was a big relief for him.
"Yeah?" He took a good look at himself and the sword. Luke wouldn't have picked up on it had Guy said nothing, but he felt much more receptive to fonons than he had this morning.
"You bet I will! Beats demon fist any day." The sight of all that blood in the hallway had chilled him for more than one reason. If there were creatures running around here and he hadn't gotten this sword, Luke would have had to get up close and personal with his enemy. He didn't want to kill anything with his bare hands. A sword kept his enemies at bay and disconnected from himself.

It still felt strange to be wearing only his white military jacket over the black uniform pants, but the entire outfit held mixed connotations for him and the other nations. If he could hear and feel his people again, then so could they (or so he hoped) and the last thing he wanted them to see was him in his full imperialistic regalia. As Japan walked, he tugged absently on the hem of the jacket, hoping it would be enough to identify him to the rest of the Institute.
Little did he know that he'd be running into someone who would recognize it so soon. As Japan turned the corner into the main patient hallways, his flashlight beam washed over a very familiar group for several reasons. To his bottom left came a helpful dialogue box explaining his encounter and Japan nodded to it, mimicking the press of a button with his right hand to dismiss it. Yes, he knew Guy and Claude well; and Luke, too, although not here. Perhaps tonight would be a good chance to clear the air.
Moving forward, Japan pulled his sword in tight toward his side and mustered his courage to approach the trio. When he was close enough, he bowed his head and called out to them. "Ah...pardon me for the intrusion. I will attempt to make this brief." And quick because if he didn't get it all out at once, he wasn't sure if he'd have the guts to do it later. "Guy-san, Claude-san, I apologize for my actions the previous night. It was not of my own will and I shall endeavor not to do it again. However, tonight, as you can see, is an important event and I must do things that other patients may not understand in order to protect my people. So if you should see me later, please do not shoot me in the head again. It's rather unpleasant and distracting. Thank you."
Yes, that was all he needed to say. Japan looked to Luke and bowed his head again as if in apology for his strange behavior. "Now, please be safe on your journey. I must be on my way to annex the Sun Room." He took a step back and bowed deeply from the waist, then turned to move on.

"No problem," he said to Luke with a bright expression. "A-and, uh...nice to meet you, too." To be honest, Claude was pretty much used to awkward, one-sided reunions with Luke, but he couldn't help but feel a tad self-conscious just the same.
As for where he got the sword, Claude's expression grew somber for a moment. Just as he opened his mouth to explain, though, a familiar-looking person passed them in the hallway. When the fellow addressed him and Guy by name, and he got a better look at his attire, though, the pieces suddenly fell into place. This was the person they'd fought on the recreational field a few nights ago, right?
Eyebrows shooting up to his bangs, he rubbed the back of his head. "Oh, hey, don't worry about it!" Claude assured him. "We understand it wasn't your fault." He did wince a bit when reminded about the phase gun incident, though. If the Federation brass caught wind of it, they'd have his head for sure (and not just for that, either). But, considering the fact he'd had Anise and Guy's safety to consider, what else could he have done? "And, yeah...sorry about that. I, uh...won't shoot you again."
It felt impolite not to return the bow, and Claude did so without a second thought. "Thanks. You take care, too!" Although, as the man turned to go on his way, Claude couldn't quite hide the quizzical expression on his face.
Glancing toward his friends, he quietly murmured, "...Wait, did he just say something about annexing the Sun Room?"

Just as he was about to suggest that they get moving (Anise had to be waiting by now, after all), something rather unexpected happened. A man stepped up to them, and while it took Guy a second to place his face, he quickly remembered him from that fight on the recreational field a few nights ago. While he was wearing the same uniform that he had been then, it was clear that he was no longer brainwashed.
Though the calm way that he asked Claude not to shoot him again did seem pretty strange. Before Guy could say much of anything, however, the odd man had moved on, leaving the rest of them in a stunned silence. Guy glanced to Claude, mouth slightly open. "Yeah, I... think he did. And how did he know our names?" Something about that guy was pretty off, that was for sure.
It wasn't something they could worry about at the moment, though. Guy quickly turned to Luke again. "Okay, you're all set so that means we have to get going. I'll tell Anise you said hi and you can do the same for me and Tear, all right?" Guy liked that they were all sticking together, although he couldn't help but think of Natalia and wonder at what she was doing on a night like this. She would have her healing spells, so she would probably be fine.
"C'mon, Claude," he said next, realizing that Anise had to be somewhere a little further down the hall. He made sure to wave at Luke as one last farewell as he moved away from his friend. It felt strange to be splitting up this way, but it had to be done.
[To here.]
sorry typo
"Yeah, sure, I'll tell her..." the redhead affirmed quietly as Claude and Guy began to leave. When his friend turned back around to wave, Luke followed suit. "Thanks again!" He said and the hallway was once again quiet. Standing there, alone, he felt uncomfortable. Guy, Luke, Anise, Tear... They had all stuck together like glue (well, when he wasn't being an ass) and now they were all off doing their own thing. He couldn't understand why it felt so strange. This wasn't like when they had all left him in Baticul to live lives clear across Auldrant. No, they were a few rooms down! It wasn't a big deal!
"Sheesh..." Getting a grip, Luke began sprinting down the hallway toward the Sun Room (hopefully, he didn't run into that crazy man again).
