Night 57: Medical Wing Hall

[from here]

He glanced idly at the doorways as they passed them, and yet still none read infirmary. "It's only a waste of time," he replied. "If you can't find them. Which would be a bit pathetic in a small building like this."

There was another hallway to the left and Albedo ducked into it, coming up short. Draping his hands behind his head, he walked back to the other, tilting his head. "Especially since I saw Sora about twenty minutes ago. Hopeful with hair at unrealistic angles?" Which would make sense. Sora was sky and didn't Riku speak as shore?

It was annoying, that. It spoke of a beach, and that reminded him too much of a girl.

"No, but I think I'd rather some egos take a beating than people risking their lives for no reason," he agreed, although he wondered at his fixation on Nazis, just before McCoy remembered again that Carter was from that very era. McCoy tried to see it from his point of view. It was hard, almost impossible. His own time had its own problems, but nothing approaching the horrors of World War II. The doctor glanced back at Carter, catching the way he was looking at the doors and hallway as if it were some hedge maze or uncharted network of escape tunnels about to get them both lost. The medical wing didn't look nearly as advanced as the stuff Starfleet had, but there was something familiar and welcoming to him about halls like these.

"Keep an eye on the walls. Should have signs on 'em," McCoy said as he went down the hall. He paused, realizing that was unnecessary. Carter did have eyes. Awkwardly the doctor cleared his throat. "You said the Infirmary?

The pulsing noise in his head had gone from an artificial ringing sound to something sounding like an overly loud, slightly faster than a human heart beat, and by now, McCoy was certain it was just him, which didn't actually make it any better knowing it. It was getting distracting. He was so sure he'd heard a BPM like this somewhere...

"Yeah. How come you didn't hear the announcement? It was pretty loud." Carter tilted his head slightly, looking like a confused little puppy. Unless your intercom was broken Aguilar/Landel tended to make sure everyone heard the message. "He wouldn't leave you out just because he thought you'd get in the way, right? They don't know us that well as people."

Good thing, too. If Aguilar had mentioned free explosives Carter would be trampling other patients to get at the pills.
