Night 56: Main Hallway, 1-West

[From here.]

He had reached the meeting point in less than a few minutes and there was still not another patient to be seen. Castiel paused, standing near the wall as he moved his flashlight up and down the corridor. There was nothing, not the sound of a shadow slipping through the dark; not the whisper of something less than human.

The only sound was the static that periodically came from his radio. He couldn't seem to get it to let up, and he wondered if it was reacting to him or if he'd been given a faulty one.

He would have preferred the former option, but he had been knocked down too many notches when it came to the loss of his abilities, his divinity, the very things that made him him.

Castiel let out a breath that had been caught in his chest and then lowered his flashlight. He wondered how long this whole process would take, but he supposed that all depended on how well he did as a student. He fashioned himself a fast learner, but he had never been able to grasp things like popular culture.

He imagined he would do a bit better with lockpicking, though. Leaning himself against the wall, Castiel stood there quietly, waiting for Orihara to show himself.

[For Izaya.]

"...!" Phoenix jumped at Niikura's sudden appearance, his heart pounding in his chest. Choosing to remain silent while both Edgeworth and Niikura talked, Phoenix took a moment to recompose himself and collect the scattered remains of his nerves.

Once he was capable of responding, Phoenix deadpanned at both Edgeworth and Niikura, as if to say Why is all of this my fault?. "...we ran into each other only a little while ago," Phoenix began, before he lifted his right hand, scratching his head awkwardly. Hearing Edgeworth introduce himself instead of waiting for Phoenix to do so was slightly discouraging, but the defense attorney barrelled onwards, not sure of what else he should do. "Edgeworth and I are colleagues and childhood friends...and we needed to get his jacket. Sorry that we took so long to get here."

"Hm, well, nice to meet ya, Edgeworth-san." The name came out slightly garbled in his hideous English, but at least it was understandable. He really needed to put some effort into eliminating his accent when it came to all these foreign names - he really could when he put his mind to it - unless he wanted to continue embarrassing himself in these small ways...

Niikura smiled crookedly at Phoenix's explanation. "Well, ya know, you're here now and that's what counts. Hopefully, we've still got enough time. Should get goin' in any case--we're headin' to a shed out on the rec field, if you're wonderin'. Went there my first night here, ran into this guy who thought he was a bona fide pirate...almost burnt my face off..."

He cast an eye down the hall as if he were sizing it up and then began slouching back the way he'd come from, beckoning vaguely over his shoulder for them to follow. "Last time I ever follow anythin' those idiots over the radio tell me for sure..."
