Night 55: Main File Storage

[from here]

Kick-butt pirate hunter she might be (okay, maybe not right now, but on a good day), but a researcher Morgan was not. As far as she was concerned, the biggest reason to have a library card was so you could prove your age to bartenders. So this file room (nothing else to say about it; it looked like a file room with nothing obviously likely to harm her except dust) wasn't exactly her element.

Still, there were a bunch of drawers and she quickly noticed they were in alphabetical order, so this couldn't be that hard. "All right," she said to Renamon, "the first guy I'm looking for is Ghost-Zombie-Demon-Murderous-Monkey-Fetishist Pirate LeChuck." There was a brief silence. "I'm going to guess that's under 'L.'"

Making it to the right room was one thing--finding the files without being set upon by creatures was another. However, if Morgan had the names provided, that would simplify things completely; they could be in and out within a couple of minutes. The Digimon wandered closely to one of the filing cabinets, vaguely remembering the last time she was here. Not a good memory, and not one that needed to be thought about. Of this room, she had learned, the only good was a way to verify. There was no grief that could be assailed this way.

Nothing was given on Renamon's face, and when Morgan spoke, Renamon turned to look at her. And then kept staring for a moment as the other woman rattled off a... name? Title? Opinion? And she had been told hers was unique. She cleared her throat, then voiced gently, "Do you have the name they are called here? The files are alphabetized by false name."

Morgan didn't answer, but she plucked up a file soon after. A moment of going through it allowed one of the two to be answered at the least. "They do," she agreed, thinking over not another's but her own file's contents. The details given with slight accuracy--enough to be disconcerting--were something unable to be wholly forgotten. Especially with Rika's presence. Morgan moved to another cabinet and Renamon remained near the doorway, keeping an eye out for any creatures still roaming.

To Morgan's question, the Digimon nodded yet again. "They are," she agreed. "These are the files of those who have been 'released'." It seemed faulty to ask, when the other held two files in her hand, but Renamon would clarify. "Were there any others you needed to check?"
