Night 68: Main Hallway, 1-West
[From here]
And there he was. Link stood near the wall, idly tapping the toe of his boot against the ground as he waited for Soma and the others she had recruited. He doubted they would take long. Soma seemed like a competent young woman. Hopefully that meant that she would have found strong allies to take with them.
He stood with his flashlight, along with the katana she had allowed him to borrow. Link was in his tunic from home, as he always was at night.
[For Soma and the Green Team!]

This was where they'd agreed to meet. So far, no sign of the others yet. Nina felt mingled disappointment and relief. At least she hadn't let them down this time. But she still hoped they'd arrive soon. The more ground they could cover, the better.
Tonight was going to be different than usual, she repeated to herself.
She looked around at the people around her - some moving on to other places, some waiting for others just like she was - and waited hopefully to catch sight of any sign of Ryuuzaki, Lana, or Edgar.
[For Ryuuzaki, Edgar and Lana!]

A solitary person waited in the shadows with a flashlight, and the glint of long blonde hair -- but the figure was slight in comparison to Edgar's. Only Nina so far. She looked expectant.
"Good, you're here. No trouble?" His tone was polite, impersonal.
Joining her, his back against the wall, he glanced at the ends of the two open corridors, searching for Edgar and Lana. There wasn't even any guarantee Lana would come. She hadn't responded to his message. And if she did make it, there was no guarantee that the cure would work, or that it would work instantly enough to make her well enough to go on. It might be best all around if they all escorted her back to her room. If that turned out to be the case, though, he expected that she would protest.

Edgar arrived next, one hand on the wall as he rounded the corner, teeth gritted behind his lips as he bit back pain. Though he'd brought his shovel, he wasn't sure how much good he'd be in a fight with his hands still so sore from their burns, the stitches along his collar pulling against his skin with even the most careful of steps. The medication dulled the aches, but while they weren't as sharp, they were consistent. Two could play at that game- he'd been in worse predicaments, he insisted inwardly. That stubbornness helped keep him moving.
At least he wasn't the last to arrive, Ryuuzaki and Nina already waiting for him and their fourth member. He took a deep breath as he approached them, composing himself, masking signs of pain. While rest and recovery were what his body needed, it was a luxury they didn't have. He was fine with the nurses (especially the lovelier ones) watching him during the day, but at night, there was work to be done.
"Nina, Ryuuzaki." He nodded briefly in greeting, the movement subtle so as not to aggravate his wounds further. "I hope you've not been waiting long. Will Lana be coming?"

"No trouble," she added, confirming it with a small smile. "What about you?" She hoped the trek had been as easy for him as it had been for her.
Edgar appeared shortly thereafter, making Nina perk up happily a second time. His wounds always tugged at her heartstrings, but she understood why he would want to keep coming out even with them. Helplessness was such a terrible feeling.
"Not long," Nina told Edgar. "We both just got here! Isn't that right, Ryuuzaki?" She glanced at Ryuuzaki, then back at Edgar.
To Edgar's second question, she glanced at Ryuuzaki again, this time for confirmation.

Edgar looked better than he had, but he was probably the most physically powerful of them on a good day, and L doubted his present capabilities in a fight. That limited their potential destinations.
"Yes, we just got here. I'm really not sure whether or not Lana is coming. The incident last night makes me a little bit concerned for her safety... however, I'm not sure she got the message I left for her earlier. I told her that I was able to get a cure from the greenhouse for her, but she never responded.
"Whether or not she makes it, it might be a good idea to visit the X-Ray Room to determine whether or not St. John's Wort really destroys the implant. That's what was suggested to us, but...."
He shrugged. The source of his cure had been too weird for him to simply take it at face value; he wanted to see whether or not it was likely that Landel would be able to turn the illness on and off at will.
"It's not far from here, and if we're lucky, it won't be too difficult to get there. I suppose we can wait for a while. Nina, you didn't see anything unusual in the women's hall...?"

He glanced over his shoulder toward the far end of the hall as he waited for Nina and Ryuuzaki to finish, keeping a cautious eye on the surrounding darkness.

Several minutes passed before Nina began to grow restless.
"Wherever we're going, I think we should start going there now." She fidgeted. She knew Lana was still coming, and she felt guilty at the idea that the other woman would show up to an empty hallway. But Nina was willing to abandon Lana for the sake of making progress; she only hoped Lana would forgive her. "We can't wait any longer. I want to get somewhere tonight."
