Spotting the door to the second block, Al quickly went over and opened the door. After shining the light both ways down the corridor to make sure he wasn't being followed, he went in.
This hall was longer, deeper, seemed almost to echo with footsteps. Gabe turned at once southward. He had never gotten very far, moving in this direction--the Arts and Crafts room was the furthest, and he hadn't been there long. He'd entertained the idea of heading in a different direction, but ... he couldn't. He didn't have a light, and this was the route he knew best.
So he turned southward, hand still firmly on the wall, eyes firmly forward, and used his unending litany to ground him. The only problem was that he kept forgetting to breathe.
