Night 68: M-A Block Hallway

For all the halls themselves weren't terribly different, the dark corridors sent a shiver up Al's spine. Perhaps it was knowing there were monsters prowling, but not where or how many--or who they'd been before. How fast did that sickness take effect? He had no idea if there was an hour or so of breathing room before his fellow inmates here might turn on him.
It wasn't a pleasant thought. Gripping the torch a bit tighter, he opened the door to the hallway.

He was wary as he stepped out, on the alert for sight or scent of blood. Tonight there was no mangled body waiting in the hall, though that only made him slightly more anxious. If these bodies were common and there were none yet, perhaps whatever beast had attacked last night had not yet fed.
His flashlight moved quickly over the empty corridor, finding nothing. Safe, for now at least.
As he hurried his pace, once again, Soushi noticed that he seemed unable to transform, though given the hostility toward those of demonic power, perhaps that was a good thing. Nine tails and his traditional clothing would be fairly likely to stand out amid the drab grey uniforms, even if it would be easier for Ririchiyo to see him, if she were about.
Soushi let out a quiet breath, glancing one last time at the place the body had fallen the night before, and continued.
