Night 67: Recreational Field
[ from here ]
Instead of being met with forest, the world started moving again, and Kyousuke shut his eyes, suddenly feeling dizzy. Before he even opened them to confirmed what had just happened, he was hit with a sudden wave of pain. Deep cuts, bruises, an intense pain in his chest that made it a little difficult to breathe. It hit him hard, too, no longer used to it after having walked around in perfect condition, and the boy cringed, a faint noise noise escaping the back of his throat. He didn't even need to look to know that these were the same injures he'd had, but seeing himself back in grey, bandages running down his arms, still startled him all the same.
If that were all, it would be fine, but this place... The skies were dark and totally clear, and though he knew Ancient Dark had a practice field hidden in God Eden's forest, this wasn't it. This one was too small, too grassy, and the walls that surrounded it wouldn't have been there. But he knew this field, too: the one back at the institute. The one he'd been attacked on his first night.
"Dammit!" he hissed. He slammed a fist on the ground, having all but forgotten he was traveling in company.
It was true he planned on making his way back here eventually, but that wasn't the problem. Not now. Not like this! They could have have found a better solution than scampering around in a maze like a bunch of rats. They could have brought help! ... There were a lot of things like that that made him want to go back, some big, some small. But those were just excuses, because in the end, one thing weighed a little more heavily than everything else: he'd just missed his chance to see his friends again.

He cleared his vision. Not surprisingly, they were back where they had started, more or less. Once again, it was night. Link had just been in this field last night; he cast an automatic glance over to the vine-covered wall he and Sechs had jumped. The idea of reappearing in a different area than from which they had left was neither here nor there. They had just crossed dimensions, after all.
He was silent when Tsurugi cried out, the heavy feeling coming back into his chest. They could never have predicted that there would be such a sudden shift again, but he wished he could have prevented it for Tsurugi's sake. Had there been a way to keep him home, Link would have readily exploited it.
Suddenly remembering to do so, Link flicked on his flashlight and picked up Soma's sword, which he had dropped to the ground during the jump.
At least the sky was clear, tonight.
He was silent for another moment.
"I suppose we ought to rethink our initial plans. Unless you're willing to try getting into that room, again." There had to be a secret to it, he knew it. There was a secret to everything! People had been successfully recovered from the morgue before now. They would achieve the same.

"... This must have been what the Head Doctor meant. 'Try not to get lost.' " Kyousuke scowled, clicking his tongue in frustration. .... They really got them, this time. "I don't think we can plan anything without knowing where we'll end up. It may be better to see work things out as we go." In spite of his outburst, he tone was calm, although there was a distinctly icy edge to it.
"Let's go. This area can get dangerous." He turned and opened the door leading back inside, not seeing much point in trying to scale the wall.

"I guess..." Link was hesitant to just run around when they didn't know where they were going. He had no idea of the extent of the... changes made to the institute, tonight. There was only one way to find out.
Link marched across the field and held the door open behind him for Tsurugi before re-entering the building.
