Night 41: Main Hallway 2-Center

[blindly stumbling from here]

His original plan of keeping by the wall forgotten, Kenpachi pushed forward in the darkness. There was a faint light at the end of this hall, probably from more of those light-thingies the other patients all seemed to have. Stepping a little further, that small amount of light was just barely enough for him to realize that wherever he was, it had just opened up by a lot.

He reached his hand to the right and felt a door. A locked door. So instead he reached his hand out to the left and felt the expanse his instincts had told him was there. Another hallway, probably. He was pretty damn sure he was supposed to turn left at some point, wasn't he? There were a hell of a lot of left turns in those instructions, so his best bet was probably to turn left.

The first door down this new hallway, surprise surprise, was locked. The second door, however, was not. First damn not-locked-or-broken-locked door he'd found up here, this had to be the right door. He turned the handle and stepped into the darkness.

Nightshift 35 - Ballroom (Basement)

[From here]

Moving down the stairs, keeping his senses alert, Qui-Gon led the way deeper beneath Landels. The darkness in the Force here was even stronger. Qui-Gon faced it even as he felt its effects; his stomach turned, he could feel the hair on the back of his hands standing up, and there was always the sense of someone looking over his shoulder and yet when he turned around, there was no one there. His boots seemed to thud unnaturally loud on the spotless black marble of the Ballroom's floor as he descended the last of the stairs. He adjusted his footsteps unconsciously.

Qui-Gon paused in the center, a hand on his hip and thumb hooked in his belt as he turned, surveying his surroundings and trying to sense any danger heading their way. It looked much like it had the night before, almost too silent. Off to the east and the west were the two doors they entered last night, doors Qui-Gon didn't feel inclined on trying again. They passed the tests this time...but there was no telling if the next time would be different, if the tests would be altered.

The Shield Artifact seemed to press in on him, feeling heavy and cold in his hand as he held it, glancing down at it.

"This is it," Qui-Gon said quietly. "Is everyone prepared?"

He glanced at everyone's faces, sizing them up, his gaze roaming from Callisto to Sanzo to Goku and finally coming to a rest for a slightly longer moment on Obi-Wan. He hoped everyone knew what was at stake here and the risk. Obi-Wan did, he knew. He wasn't sure about Goku, and he knew Sanzo was still recovering from last night's injuries, injuries that should have floored him. As for Callisto...well, she was a bit of a wild card. He believed she was determined, but what she expected out of this, he couldn't determine.

Nightshift 30: Rec Field

[from here]

Nakago opened the door that led to the outside world as quietly as humanly possible, closing it as quietly as he had opened it. The former general, however, knew full well what happened if you remained outside for too long. Strange creatures appeared and attacked you; he still bore the healing scars of his encounter with the wild dogs, after all.

Best to make things quick, then.

A quick scan of what the rec field revealed rather familiar-looking territory on the opposite end where he had fought with the dogs the night before. That meant the door he and Mozenrath had come through to get here the night before had to be on the other side. Satisfied with this determination, Nakago took off as quickly as he could for that other door, having no desire to waste any time. He just wanted to get the map and then get back to his room.

Running it was, then. He would leave this place as quickly as he had arrived.
