When the kid approached her, she looked slowly up at him with a kind of subdued annoyance. What, did she have babysitter scribbled on her forehead in permanent marker or something? The sheer number of kids who'd approached her was getting to be annoying. But, what the hell, it beat the hell outta teenage girl and maybe it would mean looking a little on the sweeter side to Dean while he was hanging around and --

And where the hell had Sam gone anyway? She'd caught him at lunch again but for now he seemed MIA. A brief scowl lit her face as she glanced around the room and pulled the headphones down around her neck, finally fixing her gaze on the boy trying to get her attention.

"What is that, the crazytown version of 'you come here often?' Save it for someone a little more your league, kid." There was no way she was playing the newbie card again. For one, she ran the risk of Dean listening and finding out Sam had gone all Rambo and iced her in the first place. More importantly, though, she'd gotten the information she'd needed as far as being new would get her -- it was better to play the oldie card and try and fake a casual discussion of something that'd gone down recently so she could get the updates that way.

But it all mounted up to the fact that Ruby was not sharing anything resembling the truth anytime soon. She simply didn't need to.
