Muraki somehow doubted the boy's sincerity, but the ones who took a while to trust would live a little longer in this place, and it wasn't as if his own sincerity was overwhelming. Brainiac 5 had at least civilized the boy a little. This was acceptable.

He wasn't surprised when they picked an empty room for the examination. At a glance, it was untouched and lit well enough that he wouldn't be needing his flashlight immediately. He flicked it off as he entered, dismissing the movement of shadows.

"It's not something I've been eager to try." Muraki replied, a touch of dry humour in his voice. "But I'm sure Peter would have been willing to assist." He let the implication sit for just a moment before adding, with a smile, "You seem like good friends."

He paused to set his flashlight down on the desk and began rolling his sleeves up with easy efficiency. "I suppose I'll be examining you first, Brainiac 5?"
