One minute he was staring at Minako, wondering why her English sounded so off and broken suddenly, and the next he was jolted awake by what felt like he'd been yanked in the direction of the fight. Except he was in bed now.
Stumbling out of bed (he still wasn't used to the sensation of not having a tail to balance himself), he bounced at the door, waiting impatiently for his nurse. The moment she opened the door, Kurt slipped out and ran down the hall. It was all he could do to keep upright--what if something had happened to Logan while he'd been standing around with his mouth open?
He scanned the bulletin, looking for a sign of Logan's handwriting. Fortunately, he was able to find it--the explanation that he'd been held up. He wrote a note back, posted it, then stared at the board. He was relieved. He'd lost Kon, Terry, and Kitty. Logan once before--he couldn't let it happen again.
Taking a deep breath and letting it out, Kurt followed his nurse to breakfast. She must have sensed he was out of sorts, because she gave him a pile of toast slices. Kurt couldn't deny he was hungry, but his heart wasn't in it to be excited about toast.
He looked into the crowd, not sure who or what he was looking for--until he spotted Logan. No need to wait for a response now. Kurt wove in between patients, holding his tray up to avoid the crowd and get to Logan. It was just like navigating the cafeteria at high school.
"Logan!" Kurt called, sliding into a small space between two talking patients. The plate slid on the tray, though Kurt righted it before disaster occurred. He set the tray down across from Logan, eyebrows knit. "Are you okay? I saw you on the ground last night, who were those guys?"
Probably redundant to ask Wolverine if he was okay, but Kurt also meant it in the general sense.
