Night 49: Walk-in Refrigerator
[From here.]
Upon stepping through the door, Peter had felt a weird rush of blood to the head, something that put him off-balance for just long enough that he couldn't quite place what had happened except that they were definitely not in a file room. The sudden drop in temperature was the first clue, and his original guess was a morgue.
As it turned out, they were in a cold storage area for food. Blinking his eyes a few times to make sure that he wasn't somehow seeing things (though why would he see this?), Peter stepped up next to Sam and continued to look around, mouth slightly open.
Maybe Sam had gotten mixed up? But still, it made no sense for a refrigerator to be just off of the main hall like this. Rubbing his hands over his arms to try and keep warm, he glanced over to his roommate with a puzzled expression. "This... isn't supposed to be here, is it?"

He blinked once, twice. That—yeah okay, this wasn't right. Definitely very not right. Peter looked just as bewildered as Sam was feeling.
"I don't..." He made a half-turn, eyes narrowed. "This is weird." Stating the obvious, but what else was there to say? They'd somehow walked straight into a storage freezer from a hallway. How did that even—?
Man, he knew they'd reached their destination with far too much ease.
Truth was, Sam had a feeling he knew exactly what'd happened: they'd walked into one door and landed in another place entirely. That part wasn't hard to figure out, even if it took a few seconds of readjustment to wrap his head around it. How was the problem. Whether it was an illusion or something much more physical, it was no simple matter. But then, what else was he expecting? If there was anything the past several nights had taught him, it was that whatever or whoever was pulling the strings on all this, they had a more than a decent chunk of power behind them.
Godlike, he wanted to say. It would fit, wouldn't it? Not the trickster he knew, but maybe another one with an equally sick sense of humor. Still, it didn't feel right. The theory, that was. It didn't quite click, not all of it. He was missing something.
He furrowed his brows, but shook off the flurry of questions crowding his brain. "Let's just get out of here."
They could stand in the fridge all night, it wouldn't do any good. If he was gonna be confused as hell, he was gonna do it somewhere warm.

Okay, so it wasn't exactly closure, but he felt better leaving that place than entering it, and hanging out with Sechs was definitely paying off.
Stepping through the door after Sechs, though, after catching his breath from the warp he found himself... cold. Very cold.
Shining the light around, he saw shelves and shelves of boxes. Nothing terribly exciting, but there was some potential. If they could stand the cold that long.
Trying not to seem bothered by it, he turned to Sechs. "Well, think we should search this place or move on?"

Another sensation of dizziness washed over him as he stepped through the door. What followed was the sudden cold, and Scar already realized that this wasn't quite anywhere near where they were supposed to end up.
The former lion knew enough about hallways to conclude the current area wasn't one of them Instead, he and his thus far nameless companion had suddenly found themselves in...
"The food storage?" The same one he had visited a few nights prior, when he had located the entrance to the basement. For the record, said food storage wasn't anywhere near the recreational field or the second floor hallway. Once again, a completely different part of the institute. Yes, Landels and his distinctive sense of humor again. It had happened two times in a row, even an ignorant fool couldn't brush it off as a coincidence.
"Oh, goody, it has happened again." Whatever it was. He wasn't sure whether to call this interesting or irritating, however.
Except, how was this even possible? Then again, they were in Landels Institute. If they could pull individuals from various worlds and even change their forms, having them move from one side of the institute to the next shouldn't be too alarming, even if any logic in this situation escaped him completely.
