"Uh... look, I'm sorry I snapped." Hughes apologized immediately, shaking his head. "Just been another long day. And... well... you know how it is, and how I worry...." He just trailed off, not about to bring up anything else in front of Riza. He hated to exclude her, or make her feel as though there were things going on that she couldn't know about, but he didn't have any other choice.

He felt even worse when Riza stood to excuse herself, but he wasn't exactly in the mood to invite her to stay. No matter what, he and Roy would at the very least be talking about things that she probably didn't want to overhear.

"We'll catch up in the morning?" he asked, giving her a lopsided grin.
