Something was wrong. Sure, Junpei had never wandered a night with the little demon, but he was really surprised that Evangeline looked like she was on the verge of passing out partway up the stairs. That just didn't seem right, to him, even with her being, like three feet tall or something. They were just stairs. Despite his uneasiness about how she'd pulled that wicked-looking knife seemingly out of thin air, the teen was concerned so he'd moved a little closer behind her as they ascended, just in case she took a dive off the stairs.
When Evangeline stopped, Junpei was about to comment on how damn tired she looked, when something about her hair caught his attention. It was changing. Dude, that was not what he'd been expecting. Was this normal for her at night? She did kind of vaguely warn him a few days ago about seeing how defanged she was at night. Maybe she wasn't as nerfed a little demon as she was during the day. That would make some sense. But this transformation thing? He hadn't predicted that and had to ask.
"Uh... Evangeline? Are you doing some kind of freaky demon transformation thingy? Cause if that's why you're so damn tired, I could, like, wait for it to finish," he said. "But you might want to ditch the black hair thing. It just makes you look like a bad dye job with horribly blonde roots."
