Kurt had spent most of dinner on the ceiling, curled into himself. Kon was gone, his nurse had told him as much. The first friend he'd made here, gone. The first person to look past the fur and see something unique and attractive. He suddenly felt scared and alone again, even though Kitty was here and Peter knew as well. But Kon had always been so adamant about Kurt's appearance, and so confident in himself, he'd been a beacon for Kurt's ongoing crusade for self-esteem.
But now he was gone, and now Kurt was spending the dinner shift on the ceiling crying a little. Kon had been a friend, and he was gone. There was nothing Kurt could do.
He shivered a little when the bracelet stopped functioning again, and he was blue and furry. His eyes glowed lamplike in the dark, allowing for near perfect nightvision.
When he heard the knock, he felt both relieved and a little embarrassed. There were wet trails in his fur--heading up his temples instead of down his cheeks. Yeah, this was weird.
"Hi Kitty, one second!" Kurt called, falling down off the ceiling. He bounded over to the door. "Brace yourself, the fuzzy dude is back," he said, opening the door.
