vstheworld: (walk cycle)

There hadn't been any signs of items to pick up so far, disappointingly. Also, whenever Scott had tried to wander away from his nurse to check for openable doors, she dutifully took him gently by the wrist and steered him back on track. Lame! Why even make this part playable if it's just a linear path with nothing to do? There aren't even tutorial windows around! Scott thought with an annoyed pout on his face.

His spirits were lifted, however, when they reached what was apparently the Sun Room. The place was crawling with other grey-uniformed patients, and he heard his nurse encouraging him to make friends. That was as good a way as any to say, "Talk to everybody and find your first objective!"

The patients seemed to come in all shapes, sizes, and hair colours. Some he could even swore he recognized (developer in-jokes, maybe?). Picking a patient at random - a very short boy -he made his approach. Soon, he was standing right in front of the boy. In his mind, he pressed a confirmation button to begin a dialogue, not realizing that he was not actually pressing anything. "Hey. I'm Scott," he said with a grin, guessing from the opening exposition that the name the nurse had given him wasn't real. If the goal of the game was indeed to beat the Head Doctor, no way would the identity given to him by the nurse be real. Well, not unless there was a really good twist, but what came later would come later. "I just woke up here, and I don't think I was supposed to. What is this place?" he asked in-character, waiting expectantly for the NPC's dialogue to kick in.
