"Uh, right," Haseo responded automatically, and the Twin Blade's practically abrasive enthusiasm finally seemed to snap him out of his unbecoming state of looking like a deer in the headlights. He stepped forward as well, blinking at the girl with his arms hanging numbly at his sides.
A surge of emotions swirled into being, murky and dulled with the effects of whatever drugs had been put into his system but undeniable all the same. He grated his teeth together as he recalled someone mentioning that Alkaid had been there before in addition to Atoli, but-- really? He honestly hadn't expected to find her here regardless of the oh-so-trustworthy people on the board. He'd been trying to avoid thinking about it.
Of course... Atoli had been mentioned too, but for various reasons her being at the Institute was more believable. It didn't quite make sense, but Haseo had talked in person to someone who claimed to know her, and he had seen the girl alive and relatively well only minutes before suddenly awakening in his patients' room. In the end, despite being attacked by AIDA on numerous occasions and bearing such a strong resemblance to Shino, unlike the girl in front of him she had never lost herself as he'd been forced to watch, helpless and mere seconds too late to be of any good.
"Alkaid. How-- where have you been?" If there was a hint of desperation in the question, it went unnoticed by the one voicing it. He frowned at the bandages on her arm, then tried to put the hand he'd managed not to injure himself on her opposite shoulder.
