The last thing Sylar remembered was standing in the middle of the grimy electronics store; next thing he knew, he was gasping awake in his bed.
For a second, he thought it might've been a dream. After all, it had been short-lived and unlikely, even for this place.
But then the all-consuming pain of his headache hit him and all of those theories were instantly disproven.
He put a hand to his head and groaned quietly. It wasn't as bad as it had been during previous Dayshifts, he had to admit, and he could at least kind of think through it, but it was still unpleasant, and it was still very much proof that he'd done something last night with his powers.
His powers...
The pain subsided slightly in the euphoria of the memory. He had used his powers – Elle's powers – and knocked back a whole line of creatures with them, along with melting the damn thing in his... actually, he realized as he looked down, the plastic tray still was in his hand, and still distorted on one side. He wasn't sure what the point of it was supposed to be, but he found himself shoving it under his mattress anyway. He didn't want anything to go to waste.
The migraine continued – as per usual – even when his nurse came to get him, though he found that it was getting a little better with each step he took down the hall. Maybe... maybe these acquired powers were easier to use over time, even if that 'easiness' was all relative. He'd once been able to flip over armored trucks with his mind. Now, he was happy about melting a bit of plastic.
His mouth twisted into a scowl around the same time he got to the food line, and he continued feeling moody as he grabbed a bagel and spread some cream cheese on it. He didn't think he could stomach anything else.
He sat down at an empty table and began eating as he scanned the cafeteria for familiar faces.
